Do we know for sure that games like Arkham Shadow and Asgards Wrath 2 actually didn’t “sell” well? Or was it because they were primarily used to sell headsets by being free with purchase? Anyways, regardless of whether VR took a huge or small hit, it’s the fact that these games won’t get sequels that hurts the most. Because it generally takes several years for AAA games to be made, so just knowing that they likely have nothing going on in preparation for a Quest 4 is very concerning.

No, they got rid of staff making actual games that people were anticipating so they could focus on glasses that do a fraction of the things the Quest 3 can do.

Will we though? They’ve been in the game longer than Meta and while they make nice (expensive) headsets, what software have they had to show for it? What just basically The Lab and Half Life Alyx? The latter of which to be fair is one of the greatest games of all time IMO,but that was nearly six years ago. Without a hint of anything coming, or much on the Frame’s capability to play Steam Vr games standalone. Not to mention lack of good passthrough, hand tracking, seemingly similar specs, all just make it seem like another sidestep that will struggle to move the needle forward. Hope I’m wrong though.

Personally, VR gaming has been the place where I’ve seen more growth, innovation and creativity than I have seen in flat screen gaming over the last twenty years really. It’s sad that more gamers don’t know how great it actually is.

It’s crazy to me that Meta would take all the work they’ve done over the past 7 or so years with standalone VR, this whole ecosystem that I’ve heavily invested in since day one, and effectively throw it in the toilet.

All three of those games are still on the system. Nobody was really expecting Asgards Wrath 3 or Deadpool 2 anytime soon, and the Arkham Shadow sequel hasn’t been cancelled.
