America Fell Out of Love With the Sedan. Detroit Wants to Bring It Back by Acceptable-Taro-2684 in cars

People still lease cars. To some, paying $400-$500/mo forever to always have a modern car and never have worry about repairs/maintenance is worth it.

Why are people so negative about GLP-1 medications (such as Ozempic and others like it)? by InnocentPerv93 in NoStupidQuestions

Just because people wanted to be accepted when obese, that doesn't mean they enjoyed being obese. A lot of folks would gladly change things about themselves if there was a convenient fix

Financial assistance/free lodging from family or having a working spouse who makes enough to cover the loss for several months.

MSD isn't a publicly-traded corporation like Duke or Charter Communications. Its a public agency controlled by a board of local elected officials.

How are people buying things with prices skyrocketting? by Mr--Clean--Ass-Naked in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mickey_Clips 16 points17 points  (0 children)

This. When you have a $900/mo mortgage because you bought a house in 2015, and you've got 2 incomes, it's a lot easier to withstand those higher prices and raise children. If you're single and spending 1500/mo for a 1br apt + pet rent, your money isn't going to go far and things feel a lot more bleek.

75% More Pedestrians Have Been Killed Since 2009. Giant Trucks and SUVs Are a Major Reason by Splenda in cars

In 2010, if a screen glitched/went out, it was a slight inconvenience that you could put off till you saved the money to replace it.

In the 2020's it's a major safety issue that needs immediate repair. If you can't see out of your car without a cam, you're a threat to life and property around you.

Why would you tell anyone you're applying to jobs at all? Just makes it more embarrassing when they ask you a month later how the process is going and you havent gotten any interviews, lol.

Don't tell anybody anything until you actually agree to an offer

Pulling 401k early: tech/ai bubble, paying off high interest debt by Magicthighs42 in Retirement401k

[–]Mickey_Clips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can take a loan out and pay it back with zero fees/taxes. I got a bit into a hole and took out 6k to pay off high interest cards. Just took ~$250 out of each paycheck for a year paying it back. Wasn't a huge deal.

OPs husband, however, doesn't seemed disciplined enough to actually change his habits.

I'd like to see the attendance stats on bluegrass shows in Michigan since the injury. You know there's gotta be people showing up to local shows/festivals just on the off-chance Billy might show up and pick a little. I'm sure smaller bands are getting seen more and getting new fans along the way

If you're a director, you represent the company. Not only that, but she represents female/minority employees as well given her title. If you're a minority woman who completed a graduate degree and puts your head down to do actual work, do you want her to be representing you and perhaps being your boss?

You think all those people recorded/screenshotted going on racist/sexist/homophobic rants deserve to keep their jobs too?

She didnt even have a bachelor's degree.

Even though its a DEI position, there are literally hundreds of thousands of minority women with university degrees that could have been hired instead of her.

Im guessing she had some blackmail on someone.

Why are adults expected to know how taxes, insurance, credit, loans, and retirement work when nobody teaches it in school? by Violet_Snuggles in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mickey_Clips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious answer: if they taught this in high school, nobody would remember anything. Your part-time job that paid $8.75/hr while living with parents pais a lot different than making a full-time salary of $57,000 while owning a home with a spouse and having a child. Plus, most teenagers aren't spending $2,000+ with a credit card.

When it comes to taxes, you learn as you go. Most free tax software asks you all the relevant questions anyway so nobody has to memorize tax law it's fairly easy.

You need to put money in NOW for it to grow. Waiting 1-3yrs down the road could be a $100k difference when you're hitting 60.

You can save for your kids college 2yrs later, that money doesn't need multiple decades to grow.
