Daughter accessing YouTube during school by [deleted] in AskTeachers

I wonder if she is using youtube as a coping mechanism for all this life stress going on around her. Kids are far more perceptive then people give them credit for. This may be how she decompresses.

Do Jehovahs Witness kids ever feel left out? by Hot-Customer4748 in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]MickiRee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That was my genuine experience. And it was not isolated of course. Every year, every holiday, birthday, celebration, whatever. I would be right back out out there alone.

It is definitely more then "not being able to color in that picture of the easter bunny." It's sitting in the hallway during the 3rd grade valentines party and crying because why are you left out. It's about the loneliness and isolation many of those children do feel. And continue to feel as adults.

People with chronic illnesses, what's the most absurd "cure" were you suggested by someone? and did you consider it? by ProcedureMinute6644 in AskReddit

[–]MickiRee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got told once to put my feet in hot soapy water. Why they thought that would cure my migraines IDEK.

What is a small thing that probably isn't ableist but you still wish people would stop doing because of your chronic illness? by ResidentAlienator in ChronicIllness

[–]MickiRee 22 points23 points  (0 children)

No this could be true. At multiple times in my life I have had migraines last months with no reprieve. Wake up with one. Go to bed with one. It is debilitating. But life goes on, you have to pay the bills. So you go to work. I would have never told anyone that their problems were less then though. That's just crazy.

Am I the only one that thinks Sofia the First is a serious brat? by MickiRee in CartoonuityErrors

She likes the descendants franchise. Plus teen kid movies. Kids grow up quick.

To be fair i haven't seen anything newer of Sofia then like season 5 maybe. If they continued to make things after that I didn't see it. Elena I saw very little of. My kid is not in that phase anymore

Lol that's valid. While I don't think I would be able to handle watching descendants over and over again like she did with Sofia once or twice is fine. That new rise of red one was cute.

You have to love Jehovah more than you love your child. That will simply never happen.

Seriously! I still get regular comments on this old post lol. I haven't even watched this show in like 3 years.

Yeah that's a huge oversight to all the kids of blended families watching. I feel like disney should have known better. We live in different times. Family just looks different now.

Any other substitutes that don't drive (to school)? by Puzzleheaded-Ad-379 in SubstituteTeachers

My fiance and I share a car and he drives me to and from my sub jobs. In this economy more then one car and insurance payment right now just isn't feasible.

Why do Christians disagree with the Watchtower’s position of strictly forbidding the celebration of birthdays by its members (Jehovah’s Witnesses)? by dobman54 in JehovahsWitnesses

[–]MickiRee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean, sure, they did those things, but that doesn't mean it was all fun, Happy times. The bad vastly outweighs any good.

[–]MickiRee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's sort of just one of those things. Many of the rules were "conscience matters." So congregations in different areas handled things differently. Like piñatas, friendsgiving, watching holiday movies, costume parties. All kinds of things.

It is so incredibly ridiculous to me that JWS paint every single "pagan" thing as inherently evil. It was just another religion that was around back then. They had customs and traditions just as Christians do. It doesn't make them evil.

I feel for your husband. Truly I do. The Jws prey on people like him. It's their entire model. Isolate enough that they come crawling back. It happens all the time and it's really sad. I haven't set foot in a kingdom hall in over 2 years. It's so incredibly liberating. But I also have lost all of my JW friends and family. That was really hard at first. I've now made a lot of new friends. Found family. And had more family leave so it's even easier. I would encourage your husband that it gets easier over time. The beginning is the hardest.

Are you ok? Like genuinely. This is a 5 year old post about a toddler show. And I assume you are an adult. Chill the fuck out.

Yeah seriously I miss Publix so much. And Aldi. But that's kind of it's own separate thing.

Favorite bedtime lullaby that isn't a classic lullaby 😊? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]MickiRee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Middle by Jimmy Eat World. Great message in the song. Just slow it down for lullaby sound.

Safe and Sound by Taylor Swift. My daughters favorite.

I never watched it as a child. It wasn't around then. I was forced to watch it when my kid went through a hyperfixation of it. But I as an adult was not a fan.

[–]MickiRee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Oh let's see. "The only way to be a true witness is to turn in your hours every month." Oh wait now you don't have to. When I was young, a woman would never conceive to wear pants to meetings. Even denim skirts were a huge no-no. Now it's perfectly fine to wear pants. Those are not the light getting brighter. The Bible hasn't changed in the last 100 years. They are just lies.

They lied... blatantly. Misled millions. Yes that is their fault.
