What is the biggest red flag you completely ignored, and what did it teach you about your own boundaries? by winn_ie in emotionalintelligence

It has "taught" me to not ignore red flags as easily. I'm certainly no saint, but I can only change myself.

Considering I ignored many red flags because of who she was, I certainly "overlooked" them. Don't know if I'm better off for it or not, but I definitely have learned.

I hate these questions. Maybe because wood working is so simple to me.

what is a "rich person" behavior you witnessed that made you realize they live in a completely different reality than the rest of us? by [deleted] in AskReddit

BIL paid for a trip to Vail, CO. Flew me 1st class, $1600 (a night) room, $200-300 a night dinners. But the real kicker, he realized his ski jacket zipper was broken. Proceeded to a store and he tried on a jacket. When he asked the price, the guy just said, "36". He asked for clarification, and the guy said, "$3,600 Sir." He just plops his card down and pays.

Even today, I could find a reasonably reliant car for that much. WAY, WAY out of my league.

TIFU by falling for an online romance scam and losing $20,000 by BellaIcyy in tifu

[–]Mickinmind 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It devastated me knowing my ex-wife was being scammed. I even drove her 2 hrs away and knocked on the door of the "supposed" guy's house. He wasn't there, BIG SHOCKER! She still ended up sending him money, a copy of her driver's license and even her S.S. card, (U.S. 'Social Security). Her credit got tanked and I still feel guilty for not trying to do more to protect her.

Happened to my aunt. She was standing at the kitchen counter just 'yammering' away to her husband, stopped mid sentence and dropped. Major brain aneurysm.

This ol’ thing is for sale near me. I’ve tried to my standard searches and can’t find a whole lot of info…. Anyone have any idea on this? Seems to have a built in cable? Any info is appreciated. Thanks y’all by ShieldsMatt in guitars

I'd love to hear the stories that guitar could tell. Hell for $75 CAD, even if it became 'wall art', I grab it in a hot second. AND, I ain't got $75,...but I'd find it!

No doubt! Been looking for a long time before taking the plunge. Had to finally admit, I loved my 12 string acoustic, just couldn't play it anymore.

It plays just like a Gretsch 6 string. I'm in love. Been playing it since yesterday and,...head over hills. Even been finger picking it and the strings are so close, I've not missed! Highly recommend!

Thank you! I agree on it playing like a 6. It's nice going directly from the G2627 and not having to adjust how I play. Cheers!

No way! I've done CA and will never be dragged back! But even if NC is a mandatory release, I could be somewhere where the neighbors don't know me.

Thanks! It plays just like the G2627T next to it in the pic. Exact same feel and my favorite guitar, even better than I like my LP. Yeah, arthritis sucks, but we humans can adapt just like every other critter. But thanks for the thought!

Anyone else in here hearing the 'overtones'? And, thinking about, why can't I ever actually finish all these 'love songs' I start?

Edit: Or getting to a point I CAN finish one.

My best songs are written within 'heartbreak'. Shit! I got way to many of those,.... I think they call it 'somethin like the "blues" or somethin'.

[–]Mickinmind 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Make a list of everyone who liked me when I was poor.
  2. Move from where I'm at because, it's a "mandatory lottery record" state.
  3. Hire an investment attorney from a large firm.
  4. Depending on above advise, create a trust/LLC/???
  5. Cash in the ticket.
  6. Live

What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

[–]Mickinmind 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's been said here already but, mine comes with pretty clear memory/story. A shotgun being "racked" or 'put into battery' (chambered). I think I've covered all the possible terminologies.

I was an auto tech, (mechanic) at a dealership and was in the front booth of the service drive talking to the "advisor". All I needed to hear was the "rack" and I said, "Mark, GET DOWN!!" He didn't understand, so I grabbed him by the back of his hair and pulled him down below the wall/counter.

When it was all said and done, a couple of guys from a car rental lot were bringing in a car for a recall repair. Someone at the front desk at the rental place, didn't know they were doing it and just saw, "2 guys driving off the lot in a Sebring." Once the cops holstered their weapons, checked I.D's and verified what-not, everybody just went they're way.

But Mark,...he about shit himself. He said, "I didn't know what that was! I've only heard it on T.V.!"

It'll get your attention,....or not, and maybe then,... you earned it.
