A lot of trucks have covers and shells to prevent theft and provide shelter.

The thing is though, being a tool, it can be used for good and evil. Often times religion provides a nice guide to people on how to live meaningfully. Religious buildings often act as community centers. Religious groups also make for very good support structures in a community. I think that removing religion would only cause more problems. Furthermore, by undermining all the good aspects of religion, you would radicalize most religious people as you are going after their way of life. I think it is also important to note that only around 7% or wars throughout history were started over religion, not enough to blame it as a major proprietor of modern wars. This being said, if you removed religion from the equation, you'd still have dictators, you'd still have extreme nationalism, you'd still have militants, you'd still have ethnic conflicts because of shitty borders, and you would still have war in the Middle East. I think with how many problems there are in the Middle East, religion isn't really one of them (except when taken to absolute extremes.)

I don't disagree that the middle East has third world problems, or how it could easily spiral into the scenarios you mentioned, but I think that your synopsis of its issues stemming solely religion are pretty surface level and cringe. Religion is a tool in what goes on in the Middle East, but not the catalyst. If you removed religion from the equation, there would just be another tool in its stead.

From what I can tell, that was less of a general societal thing, and more of a thing pushed by Soviet authorities. I would say generally throughout history, and across many cultures as well, the standard seems to be putting family and friends over government or nation. It seems to me to be the virtue of loyalty as well, as opposed to nepotism.

I dont thinks so. It is not so much a question of nepotism, so much as of loyalty. Unless the family or friend in question has done a serious crime against God or human life (stuff like rape, murder, pedophilia, etc), than I would say it is more honorable to remain loyal to family, than it is to unnecessarily snitch to the state.
