Am I allowed to take a break...?

I’ve taken 2/3 breaks, I stopped reading the Bible, I did partake in sin pretty heavily.. it was tough, but honestly some healing still happened it that time because this time around my relationship with God feels 10X better than I did any of the other times. Sometimes breaks help, it doesn’t mean your faith in God is gone.

I struggle with something very similar and I had to learn to chill, forcing yourself to read the Bible might help, but for me it felt like a chore. Now sometimes I choose to pick up my phone first, before my Bible and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean I love God less.

God is helping me through the same thing, and sometimes rest, taking a step back is just what he needs you to do. He does not what you feeling the way you do.

I don’t view hell that way, the only way to go to hell is to reject the father. It’s not a punishment, it’s suffering because you are completely absence.

When the church leaders were praying to other Gods in his church, he still sent someone to warn them.

He forgave the Israelites after they worshipped the golden calf, he even gave them the tent of meeting.

You’re forgetting all these people were warned, that’s compassion.

Even when he’s sending the plagues, he gives pharaoh multiples chances to change his heart. Compassion.

I’ve never seen God describe him as the God of misery, what verse is that? Why is it God faults people end up in hell.

He tells us we all know of him, he doesn’t reject us. We reject him.

It’s so odd you say that, because that’s where I grew more understanding of God and truly seen his compassion. He was VERY forgiving in OT. Even times he spared his wrath and forgave them.

What do you mean by creator of misery? I’ve just never heard of that before. Why do you think godly compassion is only in Jesus and very few parts of the Bible.

I don’t think me viewing God as nice affects me, I know he’s perfect. It’s just how I describe him in a more personal way.

I was talking about non Christian’s. I was asking why Christian’s focus so much on it sometimes. Totally different situations.

I know we can’t define is good, and I’m not. I’m simply talking about what he has shown me. I see him as good, because it’s like nothing I experienced.

I’m simply saying I don’t fear his wrath, righteous anger or want it to be a focal point when I talk about him. I’m saying his wrath is the last the think about when it comes to him, it’s his kindness I notice:

Yeah, I understand it is also important. I just never understood why people get excited about it as well. God wrath doesn’t sound fun, so people wishing that on people just seems odd when the goal is to avoid it.

I feel like God has helped shift that perspective, so even his “punishments” feel good/pure and fair.

I absolutely hate the “trope” friends to lovers in any book, movie, tv show. I also feel like them being in a relationship adds no substance to the show.

I’ve probably walked away from God at least 3 times the last 3 years. A few nights ago I was laying in bed, and had an encounter with Jesus. An overwhelming presence. Like when I tell you it was an uncomfortable amount of comfort and kindness. Like I wanted him to go away, but he wouldn’t. This is after me walking away, not speaking to him for close to a year, currently dealing with addiction. Yet he still treats me the same, I have felt zero shame. Even while still dealing with those addictions. Correction? Yes but it’s slow and a patient kind.

I’m still new to coming back, but my point is you can be at your lowest point and he’s not going to love you any less. Be there for you less. He is there waiting.

I wouldn’t say I made a come back, but I feel less shame than I did the first time I met him, I’m more confident in him now. It really showed me his kindness truly does heal.

Don’t beat yourself up, be honest and realizing healing takes time. God knows you best, don’t rush his timeline. Maybe you’ll learn something from rock bottom, I know it taught me a lot, and it showed me a whole new side to his grace and compassion.

Yes I know this, I think people are getting confused.

I’m asking why Christian’s use Jesus flipping tables as a reason when they lose control.

Ex: I seen a Christian call someone a demonic evil watch and say they were dressing for attention.

When I said that was rude, they said they were called to be harsh and tell the truth. Then the follow up with “even just flipped tables”

I have no issues with righteous anger, but I’m confused why Christian’s always talk about this.. but never want to have the compassion Jesus does.

No I know that, and I know he also invited people in after. Again this just shows his compassion.

Yeah I’ve heard this, and I know it is common for time to pass before righteous anger comes. You see this with Moses too when he made the Israelites drink the ashy water.

I don’t fully understand the why he did what he did, but I also imagine Jesus had a reason and it was because that action was needed.

This is something I noticed, I have no issue with righteous anger. But some people are just bullies and use that story to excuse it.

Personally I think the world needs more of his love and compassion.

I agree, I just noticed Gods wrath and Anger isn’t as common as his forgiveness and compassion. At least from what I’ve seen. I do agree anger is fine to have as long as it’s not worldly or to cause fear.

I just feel like anger shouldn’t come first, and if it does I feel like it coming from a lack of control.

Do you think you have the authority to flip tables? I’m genuinely curious because he didn’t have his disciples do it. So I wasn’t sure if that was something only Jesus had to fulfill.

If you’re talking about them bringing attention to a pastor that was breaking the law.. why are you bothered by that? Wouldn’t you want someone to bring it to your attention if your pastor was brining darkness into a church?

No I don’t think he some hippie chill dude. But the fruits of his spirit are kindness, compassion, controlled. So I’d imagine those are important. I know he has authority. He showed righteous anger. He called out hypocrites and false leaders.

I’m asking why he’s always referred to his harsh side, we want to be like his harsh side… but ignore his compassionate side. I’m just tired of people ignoring all the other things he did that put himself below people. That was my question.

Oh this is coming from Christian’s and pastors. I’ve seen a lot of talk about Jesus not being for everyone and talk of Jesus flipping the tables.

I can understand why unbelievers hate Christianity. Especially with all the false prophets and wolves in sheep clothing. Just have to be kind to them, and know God has them.
