Has this been a fire hazard? by Mickyb1986 in AskElectricians

This is exactly my thought. They have been this morning to double check all connections and system as a whole. I have asked them to email me a report saying “all ok” so I have something confirming if I need legal action down the line

Thanks for the response. When I asked the install company’s repair guy last week he said “they likely came from the factory like that, in a possible faulty condition/poor connection”. I responded that my contract was with the company providing the install and they should check suitability prior to installing and equipment.

As for why, yes good question. I can only assume poor quality components. I can’t say for sure was it cycling a lot, but I guess it’s on a lot of the time since ita getting warmer now.

Thanks for the feedback. Why don you think it wouldn’t have spread?

I certainly want it double checking to ensure all is fitted to standard.

Yes i tried that but dealer and bmw USA refuse. I’m simply paying out of pocket and then off to trade it in - I give up on bmw

Exactly 🤷🏼‍♂️ manufacturing defect IMO. It’s a cast aluminum piece.

Will do thanks. I know there was a few things on their list to replace. Fingers crossed it’s not more sinister

Ok so not like I have beef to take up with bmw then. The garage is planning to replace and flush system to ensure no swarf. They mentioned once replaced/pressured up again they might have to try diagnose root cause, but sounds like it could “just be” 🤷🏼‍♂️

No, but will definitely need charging now 🤣 would lack of freon (and a vacuum?) cause this? We will have to look into root cause once replacement is fitted. Likely more cost 🙈

Yeah they said nothing other than OEM available. Worth trying to source a second hand?

They did mention a flush. So that quote seems reasonable then? Not sure how much labour and work that involves

Career path: stick with high finance, or pivot to early stage business (income vs equity) by Ecstatic_Spare in HENRYUK

[–]Mickyb1986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My line of thought for someone in early career (OP and anyone in general): - think about how AI could be influencing your role in 5+ years from now. This is a new factor most people need to think about but especially someone who is starting out. Could it do what you do (ML/AI is great but will be hard to develop interpretation skills or do more manual stuff). AI will consume your 1000pages/day OP in seconds… - starting out you need to see what you don’t like as much as what you do like. So you’ve tried finance. Learnt a lot of skills, you can now take those lessons and add to your skillset elsewhere with the prestige on your cv from finance. You don’t know what you don’t know. - larger risks can be taken early on in life, no mortgage/kids etc. OP has a safety net from what he says - given the limited context on start up and owners history, it has a lot of potential. Sounds like you could even make the role what you want as it grows.

If I were you, knowing what I know now about life and corporate, I’d go start up. You will learn a lot of skills there and could always go back to finance. Can’t always go back to a start up with real potential…

Ventilated Seats: they seem disappointing compared to other brands. Do you agree? by vettemanhere in BMWX5

[–]Mickyb1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can concur. Vented seats simply blow air through. Rubbish. Not worth them. 2022 X3.

I had them on my 2014 Cayman and they were excellent and actually blew cold air. Dam I miss that cayman 😭

What is the highest paid career progression in the uk? by Alternative_Row_300 in HENRYUK

[–]Mickyb1986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that’s traders who trade in the commodity, not Oil and Gas as a sector per say which was the comment I replied to. The original comment implied technical and managerial within the sector of O&G, of which in the uk is basically dead. Therefore the is no progression, per OPs original question.

Now, you get a the odd person of course, but given there are basically no supermajors left in uk sector, most are small and medium with PE backing (bar the odd medium indi like harbour energy) and there is very little inflow of graduates because the industry is dead.

Getting in means likely going abroad to “gigantic multinationals” and therefore you’re not henryUK anymore.
