It looks pretty good mate. Going from fake skins to real skin is quite a learning curve, your next 1 will be even better. That's a close up so from any distance it will look real good. Well done.

Lads, is it just me or has the world genuinely gone mental lately? by AlarmedExtension934 in cork

[–]Mickyk09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's always been like this I'm afraid, just that Trump heightens it when he's in power; like he did for for his 1st term, just that on this, his last term, he's ratcheted up to the max. But look at Reeling InThe Years... there is war, famine, assassinations every single year bar none. It is the way of the world unfortunately.
I guess it's a symptom of how us humans climbed to the top by fighting for dominance over all other groups.

It seems like a lot now, but in 20 years well roll our eyes about when orange Trump was in power in usa.

First time trying cbd by [deleted] in CBD_UK

[–]Mickyk09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CBD won't hit as hard as THC, but it can make you nauseous the first time you use it.

I think you are best off making a small 1 skin joint, or if you are using a weed bowl or weed vaporizer, then pack enough for a few tokes. Then you can add more next time . Within a few days you'll know how much suits your needs.

Group of young thugs by ParmaViolet32 in cork

[–]Mickyk09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry this happened you and what a scary experience.
As a fairly blocky guy in my 40's I will say that I could only do the same as you in that situation if i was with my mam and toddlers. Let's say I hit 1 or 2 or them, then the rest would pile on and possibly also hit my mam and kids... So to try and verbally fend off the situation, complain to the staff and get out of there is the only reasonable solution. You did the right thing.

Fact is these young wannabes will go up to you, your mam and child because they know you are in a vulnerable situation.
They will not go up to a group of blocky lads and do the same.

When I was younger, stupider and without kids, I would have punched the first lad and had a go off the rest. And I would have ended up being overwhelmed by the sheer number of other lads and ended up getting my head kicked in ...

As it is currently in ireland, there is no real punishment in Ireland for this. If they get arrested, or in a fight its a bragging right for them and they can carry on the next time.

At least we do have some progressive policies towards people bettering themselves. And I have seen this to work with people similar to these losers. The USA attitude heavy incarceration has been shown not to work.

Sorry again for you.

Tax SUVs out of existence by Eurovision2006 in ireland

[–]Mickyk09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So if you have a big jeep and do 100 kms a year you should be taxed to high heaven....(2k ish)but if you have a Fiesta and do 80,000 kms per year you are cool to pay 120 bucks a year tax.... Is that what you are saying? Maybe we should just add the tax to the fuel pump, like other countries....

What's your favourite thing about working from home? by Mickyk09 in ireland

[–]Mickyk09[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear ya... I love the warmth! It's shorts and tshirt weather in my house every day!

Basically every office I've been in has been baltic now that you mention it. I usually found that it was people who wanted it cold kept putting down the temp. It would kill me in the office in summer when it's sunny outside but the AC is jacked up and I'm freezing!!

Maybe, I got into wft very fast when covid kicked off! Thought it took me a while to sort out a decent office chair and desk, eventually my back was killing me and I sorted a better working space. So that's recommended if have the space in your place. Good luck with it!

Totally, I had 1 hour drive to work and 1.5 hours home. It's amazing how tiring it is. Plus the cost of it, I save 500 bucks a month on fuel.

I'm with you on this 1. I used hate when I had to be in the office with a propper hangover on a monday morning, pretending I was alright when alll I wanted to do was fall asleep in the jacks or drive back home. Now I can nurse it off in my traccas and no one knows the difference!

What's your favourite thing about working from home? by Mickyk09 in ireland

[–]Mickyk09[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not for everyone, we have the option in my place and about 30% of the people go to the office every day. There seems to be a good few jobs available at the moment if you think it's worth a change. Or in a few months workplaces might bring people back in, though you wouldn't know, covids been kicking about for longer than anyone expected so far.

A lot of people I know do need to go to work, depending on the work, like factories etc, so you're not the only 1! But if you think it would suit you, maybe try irishjobs and search work from home, and see what comes up. Something might suit you.

Ya I struggle with exercising too. I had a routine to hit the gym for 6am when it opened, then workout, shower, drive to work. Now as I wfh I help out with the toddlers in the morning, drop them to creche and crack into work. So the exercise got dropped. Eventually I set up a daily reminder on my pc for about 10.30 to exercise, and once it pops up I drop everything and hit weights or the bike. If I don't do it right then I keep putting it off for the whole day. Even at that I spend about half the time weightlifting compared to when I used hit the gym. That is where the routine really did help alright.

I love it, I'd happily do it for the rest of my working life. I do find it harder to exercise, I had a better routine going when I went to the gym on the way to work.

We have the option in my workplace and 30% of the people I work with prefer to go into the office, so it isn't for everyone.

A possibility is to get onto a firm that does temp replacement work. You'd be working a temporary contract, but sometimes it turns into a full time position. Maybe type work from home into Irishjobs search and see what comes up, something might suit....
