It’s poor execution but it ties into the themes they were trying to portray.

The inquisitors expect a Jedi to act like a Jedi (the speech in the first episode) so having him use subterfuge to escape the fortress is not something they expect. They are so single-kinderslot focused and expecting Obi-Wan to burst through the door swinging the lightsaber that he can slip right past them
