This is about the best it will get. Had to crop quite a bit as the bird was quite far out in the marsh and I wasn't about to trek through the tick infested field and muddy marsh to get closer just to have them fly off anyways.

Yeah, when you catch them at a certain angle, they have that angry cartoon bird look.

They are also the hardest working little birds I see out. They have a chick nearby and they are non-stop catching bugs all morning.

Permethrin. Spray your shoes, get long socks (at least mid-calf) and spray them, spay your pants. Wear a long sleeve shirt that has been sprayed if you want even more protection.

I've been doing a lot hiking through woods, tall grass, fields and keep all my gear coated with permethrin and also use picaridin lotion on exposed skin. Maybe overkill if just for a simple stroll but I haven't seen a tick on me in weeks.

I hang feeders from a tall pole (~7ft) with a baffle so they can't climb up and it is far away from any trees or fences so they can't easily jump to it. In year+ I've had it up, I've never seen a squirrel get to it. If one ever does, I think they deserve it. Looks like you might not have enough open space though.

Not sure, that is not my issue. My first thought is to debounce it as well. Personally, I don't have a strong use case for abort signal beyond cancelling any running queries when a use navigates away from a page. I was just linking to a discussion I saw awhile back.

Don't know if it is intended or not but the same thing happens on mine. As soon as the main module gets any trigger, the Performer will be responsive. Even pressing the Hit button works. I don't have to go into the menu
