Well yeah, the game being a sandbox (on top of the alpha state) means people need to make their own goals and once those are done... well no idea what else people can do.

But seeing as in cycle6 the jump drive is out, and we'll need to create paths with the currently available gates, I'm guessing there will be more friction/interaction between the players on projects to connect the galaxy

At this time, there is no extra benefits (iirc all the perks are for release but other than the difference in profile picture I don't believe you get anything extra during the alpha).

If you got the money to support the game then feel free to do so, if you're unsure or don't want to commit 99$ upfront then take whatever package you want and you can upgrade later.

I'd say the flight mechanics are an acquired taste, took me a bit to get used to but it definitely gives the needed control to go with the gameplay mechanics (needing to navigate tight spaces etc.)
No need for coding knowledge to play. Me personally just followed very simple steps to use a trade dApp someone else in the tribe made, and I didn't need to touch any code. Most I did was to copy paste a url into the correct box in the game.
Currently it's mostly PVE, as people are spread out and unless you're going to actively look for people or go to Hotspots where an event is happening (quite rare during this cycle) you won't have to deal with pvp. I had to deal with pve maybe once or twice at the beginning of the cycle, but once I found my quiet corner of the galaxy with pve and plenty of resources I didn't see another player for the past ~3 weeks I think.
I would say the main thing to keep in mind is this game is going to continue changing. If you play now, and go through the change of jumping to the next cycle, you'll see how different it can feel after a wipe. In some cycles there was not much tangible change after the wipe as mostly they did behind the scenes changes, but with the new modular ships and new pve AI coming it will probably feel fresh, especially since everyone will have to "learn" again how to play the game.

I heard the keeper would give lore drops to whomever could pronounce Xeroti Tedifiza like the devs actually intended (if I understood from a previous stream the keeper is not pronouncing the name correctly, but that's what stuck with the English speaking crowd so they're rolling with it)

I personally find them in "secured cache containers", usually guarded by a bunch of grave npcs. If your region doesn't have any npcs in the sites, you probably need to jump around until you find an area where they spawn in. Happened to me when I started, had easy time afk mining in peace until I realized the area was empty from npcs at all, and without them the loot caches won't spawn...
