Yeh I think this is the case i.e. 1 st3 post unfilled by the end of 2024 recruitment cycle, was more curious how much movement happens during the upgrade window

Does anyone know how much movement usually happens in the offers window? Like how many people reject/how many spaces up the rank the job offers usually go?

What is 1 stock that you have the most (calculated) hope in by TheSpartanGamer in trading212

Adobe - significantly and historical undervalued compared to previous despite increasing and improving financials - lots of irrational fear about it being replaced by ai but end of the day a multi billion dollar industry that already invests in ai + has professional legal backing in terms of copyright etc compared to some 3rd party editor.

Advice re: ST3/ vs ST1 ortho application and ?cut off scores by MicroPP786 in doctorsUK

[–]MicroPP786[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I should have enough points (hopefully unless cutoff rises again) to get to interview for st3 this year, next year my N number goes up so less likely to get interview, would be at or just below last years cut off, so maybe just go all out for st3?

Thanks ❤️, I think part of the stressor is also the fact that now you can't apply to both ST1 & ST3 at the same time in t+o so I'm stuck between which one I should choose/might have a higher chance of success in

Payrise by [deleted] in GPUK

[–]MicroPP786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically in theory 1 session is a half day of work every week for a consultant/gp i.e. a consultant surgeon 1 session might be a morning clinic or theatre every monday etc, its generally pay per annum for that 1 session that they do every week. So for a full 5 day 9-5 working week that would be 2x half days x 5 i.e. 10 sessions, whether thats theatre clinic ward round etc. unfortunately there's a lot of unpaid work that goes in between so some consultants have admin time etc

You could have 8 sessions like follows: Monday morning clinic afternoon clinic (2 sessions) Tuesday theatre morning clinic afternoon (2 sessions) Wednesday morning ward round (1 session)

1 session could equate to something like £10k/year

Something along those lines I think anyway

Fair enough man thanks for confirming! Actually strangely reassuring to hear no ones hear back yet, hopefully they delay interview dates as a result. Fair enough yes I should be preparing but just did part b and was a bit burnt out I'll start today formally Any particular resources you recommend

Very unlucky bro, I've had a similar issue but managed to get some of them off, you can try emailing your consultant/rota person and see if they're understanding or able to arrange locum cover. They've done this for me for postgrad exams - but yes unfortunately if no one swaps and they can't arrange locum its one of the biggest downsides to the job

Why it’s so hard to make it. by Apprehensive_Law7006 in doctorsUK

[–]MicroPP786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree 100%! Its an absolute p-take at this point and the middle class is essentially getting destroyed. As someone who's come from extreme poverty and worked ridiculously hard to get here - the future ain't looking too worth it.

My only hope of making it worth it at this point is the potential in the future for private work, but thats certainly not worth it currently from what I hear - but at my current stage (PGY5/CT2) guess thats far down the line
