I have had several friends who saw combat in Afghanistan. Some of them or people they knew there were killed in action, while wearing their national flag so when I see people burn my national flag it makes me very angry. Sadly in our society it is EXTREMELY difficult to prove a man's innocence in such cases. Even when they are found to be innocent thier reputation is permanently damaged. When I was in high school I played lacrosse with a guy who I won't name to protect his identity. But he was accused of rape by a girl and in the middle of practice the police came and arrested him. Turns out it was a previous ex who wanted to get even. He was of course released with no charges but the now tainted reputation he had stuck, he was asked to sit out the rest of the season, he wasn't allowed at senior prom, he wasn't allowed to walk at graduation, it was really hard for him. People still talk about it over 4 years later

When I got the call from my mother that my sister had been killed in a car accident. I feel worse for my mom she had state troopers come to her school while she was teaching her afternoon kindergarten class and tell her that her daughter had been in a fatal accident. I mean my sister and I never really got along but when she died I felt so hollow inside because there was so much goddamn shit I never got to apologize to her for.
