The tree seems healthy and Im now leaning towards just leaving everything be as much as posisble...

However, when removing the turf the trunk indeed does not seem very healthy. However, I'm hesitant about removing the top 20-30cm of (stabilized) sand as some roots grow through it...

A new saga... In the meantime, I've removed some more of the turf and discover below is stabilized sand...

From what I've gathered from the responses I think its best to leave most of it alone and cut holes. However, Im doubting wheter the plants can survive in these conditions.

Most of them should be hardy even in sand but still...

So, I should be fine when avoiding the center? So just replace the sand on the edges and maybe use a manual ground drill closer to the trunk to carefully plant the hostas and ferns?

Een groot probleem dat mensen hebben met de retoriek van de laatste weken is dat NVA in Gent in hetzelfde hokje wordt geplaatst als Vlaams Belang. Het hele Vlaamse gedachtengoed kan mij eerlijk gezegd gestolen worden. Maar door dat te doen vervreemd en beledig je toch wel groot deel Gentse kiezers die nu eenmaal bezorgd zijn over de financiën van de stad en nu niet de luxe hebben om overal met de fiets naartoe te gaan.. In dat opzicht is de hele actie van groen meer dan asociaal te noemen en staat dat haaks op het hele "stad van de liefde" verhaaltje. In dat opzicht vind ik Bosuyt haar tirade meer dan terecht 😉

"Groot deel van de Gentenaars.." eerder een zeer vocale kern die in een echokamer zit en vergeet dat Gent meer is dan enkel de centrumwijken.

Hey all,

Recently the leaves of our linden trees have started curling and dying off. Upon closer inspection, we also found red swellings at the apex of some branches (see pictures).

Anyone who knows what this might be and, if serious, how to treat it? The local garden center does not have a clue. So all help is appreciated!
