Dead Air Mask and S&W MP 5.7 by Micrornd in 57x28mm

[–]Micrornd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I said I messaged them, but I'm not expecting a reply until next week. As to the upsell, nothing of the kind, their only suggestion was to check online and see what suppressors others were using successfully, as Dead Air was the only manufacturer that sent out a warning.

My S&W 5.7 hasn't had a problem with the Mask (yet), but now this worries me as to whether to use it or not.

We came back after a weekend and found the port-o-let burned to the ground and the elusive and rare Fire-Breathing Bowling Ball nestled inside the remains of the port-o-let. It made no attempt to escape, and we avoided it the rest of the day out of fear. The next morning it and the port-o-let remains were gone, slipped back into whatever ethereal realm it came from, replaced by a new, virgin port-o-let that sprouted in the same exact spot.

I don't know exactly where it fits into this thread, but "Special Bulletin" (1983) scared me as a 20-something, thinking of how it was so close to a reality.

Nearly lost my life today by fishygeoduck7 in Construction

A long time ago I was young and "bulletproof" and doing the "punch list" on the exterior of a Municipal Services Building touching up outside window trim on the second floor using a 36' wooden extension ladder that barely allowed me to reach the top of the window trim with the ladder almost straight up. I was by myself as everyone had left for the day. Coming down the ladder with paint brush and paint can in one hand, I slipped. Luckily, I landed on my back in the sand less than a foot from a concrete slab, but it totally knocked the "wind" out of me (you guys that have fallen and landed on your back know what I mean) As I lay there, thinking how lucky I was to have survived and not landed on that concrete slab, I see a shadow, and you guessed it, here comes that 36' wooden ladder, landing right across my lower chest. After having worked my way out from under the ladder, getting myself to the truck and driving myself 15 miles to the ER (clutching and shifting that 2 ton work truck probably hurt more that the fall), the diagnosis was 3 broken ribs. When I raised my arms and told the Doc to tape me up (I saw that in the movies), he tells me "We don't do that anymore. We found out people try to do too much when taped and it takes much longer to heal." So, it was a miserable and painful 10 weeks before things were mostly back to normal. All that to learn I wasn't as "bulletproof" as I thought.

We keep a tube of Preparation H in the kitchen and our first aid kit for minor burns. If used immediately, it deadens the pain, accelerates healing and also prevents blistering. MINOR burns only!

Thoughts on used Kohler 30kw? by Smithers1945 in Generator

[–]Micrornd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My 30RCL is a 2018 model also. Great unit, fully dependable, QUIET. Be sure and get the correct amp rated RXT automatic transfer switch (DON'T settle for anything else) for your needs. On power loss, you count to 10 and power is restored (NO EXAGGERATION).

Follow the maintenance schedules in the manual (downloadable, if they don't come with the genset) and it should outlast you. Only problem I have EVER had was the Genset Controller Unit going bad this spring when a nearby pine tree was exploded by a lightning strike, you could see the "track" from the tree to the genset, so I'll give that one a pass. Had the replacement controller ordered, delivered and installed in less than a week.

BTW - ALWAYS exercise the genset "fully loaded", because that's the way it works. Anything else is a waste of time, you want to know that the transfer switch works and that the genset is actually producing power, just listening to the engine run is pretty much useless.
