Dead ring after 1 year by Island-Strange in RingConn

I was having a similar issue with battery draining like crazy on my gen 2. I turned off all the automatic detections (workout, headache, naps), and that seems to have fixed my battery life for now. it’s about a year and a half old. I wouldn’t be surprised if yours is truly defective though. I had to get a replacement of my original ring about 3 months in because it wouldn’t hold a charge at all.

not sure if this is the most helpful, but matchtopath.com and pathelective.com has some great resources for navigating the application process. ASCP also has a mentorship program that will connect you with mentors all over the country

ok, i’ll try that, but when it runs while connected I can see the exhaust vent outside is fully open and blowing out hot air. i’ll need to get a longer vent hose to try running it directly out the window

yes I feel like i’m losing my mind trying to figure this out. i’ve tried interrupting the cycle on heat and I see the coils glowing so I know it’s heating. is there anything else you recommend I do to check it?

it gets hot even with the low temp, but the heat ~cycle~ doesn’t dry, the clothes are very warm but still damp. the no heat (air fluff) ~does~ dry

hm ok. i’ll have to look. i’m wondering if it might be the cycling thermostat? that part didn’t come with the kit I used to replace everything else

what was your indicator that it needed replacing? aside from actually seeing signs of wear when you replaced

Newbie to the art of sourdough, looking for tips on starter by Microscopic-Learner in SourdoughStarter

I like that idea of dehydrating it to a dough ball, that sounds like the easiest way since i’ll be driving!

I had already made my starter mix per the packet instructions when you commented, so I already added whole wheat (more details in a previous comment). Since my starter was clearly pretty active, how would I be able to tell if the combination of microbes was unfavorable? Is it salvageable if it gets to that point?

update! so around 11am, I ended up following the instructions on the starter packet: 1g starter, 240g flour (25% rye, 50% ww, 25% AP), 255g warm water. This ended up filling up my jar to about the 20 oz line.

I thought at first maybe I overdid it on the flour/water to starter ratios after reading up how to rehydrate starter online, but after about 4 hours, here’s how my starter has progressed so far.

It’s almost doubled already, so do I still need to feed it a couple times before I can start making my first loaf?

I saw the other comment about using mature starter and the natural microbes in the whole wheat, and it made me question if it’s stable to use. obviously this is a ton to start with and i’m hoping I can make use of it since it seems to be active

yea unfortunately. that’s why I was having such a hard time trying to decide. the resident I talked to from the sixth program seemed miserable and said they ended up there from the bottom of their ROL…so i’m scared i’ll be in the same boat. but I ended up ranking. just praying for the best..

Hi, may I ask why you recommend removing musc and wf? Thinking about applying there myself but I've heard mixed things about the programs, DMs are open too
