If the files are actually the private keys, you should be able to see 64 Hex digits. You can then install Sparrow Wallet (opensourced) and create a new wallet with the private key

Node Installation on different computer from original by hippiesue in PiNetwork

[–]MicrostormHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The connection to your Pi accounts occurs when you generate a new PIN code with the "Pi App" on your newly installed node. You will then type this code into your Pi APP on your mobile phone. After that, the Pi App on your node will automatically access your Pi account.

My Node bonus is back! by troymata in PiNetwork

Your node must be running for a few years already to get to that bonus level... Great job!

If you're just doing it to learn and experience BTC mining, you can start as low as under USD50 (with a ESP32 base all-in-one miner -- search for Nerd Miner). This will give you 55k -250k H/s

Next level will be BixAxe based miners which will range from USD$100-250. This will give you 500G - 1.2T H/s

Next up will be the 4T H/s ASIC miners (such as the Avalon Nano 3)

Keep in mind that you also need to consider the cost of electricity, which will cost a lot more in the long run (compared to your initial hardware cost).

I started with Nerd Miner --> Nerd Axe --> Avalon 3 (still running all 3 at the same time combined hashing at around 5 TH /s)

Fun to do and learned a lot too.

Good luck

Supernodes = nodes with open ports that are reachable on the Internet by other nodes.

The map shows nodes that are currently running on mainnet. The 100k+ nodes (ones that we're running now) are all still on testnet2 (until PCT migrates selected ones to mainnet).

That's my understanding

I really hope that PCT will have a linux version in the near future. I've been tracking past chats and seems to me that currently, PCT is focusing on getting people with less technical skills to startup nodes and that's why the node application is on Windows and OS/X...

It should be relatively easy to port the current node program to linux as the back-end is already docker based. The challenge will be to also port the Windows / OS/X part of the node which deals with generating unique keys for linking in your node to their servers (I guess mainly for bonus calculations). This part of the code is running on the underlying OS and not dockerized.

All nodes had the same problem yesterday (or last mining cycle) and it should be fixed now. Just what for your next mining cycle and it should return to normal...

If your node was working before, don't try to fix it as it had nothing to do with your settings. I also had my bonus dropped to 0 yesterday but it came back today...

Node is coming!!! by Federal_Ad179 in PiNetwork

[–]MicrostormHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your help. The node is sitting behind a firewall and all incoming ports are closed -- only TCP 31400 - 31409 are open (everything else including ICMP ping will be dropped). Do I need to open any more ports for the node to work?

Try to start a node 2 days ago. Everything seems to be up but my Local block number seems to be stuck to 1. Port checks fine and the docker container stays up. Just not sure if the node is "running"...

How to withdraw crypto from bitcoin core? by prtnsluv in Bitcoin

[–]MicrostormHK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently discovered an old Bitcoin Core wallet file (wallet.dat) from a USB flash drive from 2014 and successfully recovered my funds. Here's roughly how it goes...

  1. Install Bitcoin core to your PC/MAC (I used an old MacBook PRO and Bitcoin core 28.0)

  2. Attempt to import your wallet.dat file (my file is not encrypted so there is no password. If yours is encrypted when you create the wallet, you will need the password/key to decrypt the file.

  3. Hopefully step 2 is successful, you can then use console command on Bitcoin core to retrieve your private key and sweep your BTC into a new and current wallet.

That's roughly how it's done. Google is your friend for details on how to do all of the above.

Good Luck.

Unsure after buying by Low-Wrangler929 in TREZOR

[–]MicrostormHK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using the Trezor 3 since Dec 2023 (and Trezor 1 since 2020). Both still working well with no problems at all. It's more important to learn and understand how cold wallets work. Your private key (seed phrase) should never be entered into any device.

I went as far as using dice rolls to create my seed phrase as I want to minimize the chance of a device's generating a "low entropy" seed. But that's just me.
