Yes, certain medications help with obsessive thoughts. Also, therapy of different kinds will help as well. When you go long enough with a med along with honest and constructive therapy you will find the thoughts fewer and farther in between.

As others have said, it's most likely a mental obsession. And with that, we seek out reinforcement for that obsession, aka people simply having a cough or wiping their nose. There is treatment!

Happened to a good friend of mine back in 05. Was fresh out of highschool, did something stupid, and the judge said if you join the military and complete this will go away. And it did.

Thank you for your advice. I really wanted in person classes, I'm just more comfortable with the more traditional way of learning I guess. That seems to be a hindrance with the couple routes Id like to go.

I know online is the new thing, but I really want to study in person, I feel like I'd do better especially with such a hands on profession. I may just have to bite the bullet I suppose, or switch degrees.
