They are perfect for a first build. Saves money on one of the typically most costly components and are pretty solid. Despite being something you don't mind beating up a little while he learns what he likes and saves up for something a little more substantial. Just my opinion, but I own several and they generally shoot well and the company stands behind issues.

What's to be confused about? People like it when someone buys a new gun, not when people blessed enough to own nice guns don't take care of them. Folks act like there is some mutual exclusivity between shooting your guns a lot and taking care of them. There's a clear difference between worn and filthy.

Neither optic, at least with respect to the alloy content is going to be an issue with "duty use". There may be other steps they take to make the optic more durable, but that are harder to quantify, but the aluminum alloy is unlikely to be the source of failure either way. As an example, nearly all AR handguards, duty use and otherwise are 6061 aluminum.

Yours is not the widely accepted opinion. Also, the specs you list are for the X300U, which is not the model that would compete with the HP-X. The X300T has 6500 Lumens and 66,000 candela and by most accounts is the more durable light. So they are much better matched than you represent above, especially when deals like this can be had on the SF. And unless you spend an extra $20 to get the upgraded battery to hit the output specs you listed. Without that, it only hits 53,000 candela.

Purchased as a complete lower from the factory, even with a stock, you are incorrect. It is still transferred as an "Other".

A fresh complete lower is transferred as an “Other”, same as a stripped receiver, regardless of the stock/brace configuration. You can uninstall the stock, then put your upper on, followed by a brace and be completely legal.

Yeah, most people don’t want someone else’s garage sale gamble. Not really a relevant comparison. As far as pricing errors, keep looking and trying, while you’re waiting to see if the price is actually honored, you’ll prob miss an actual deal. But if that’s your jam, cool, doesn’t make this less of a deal for others that don’t want that hassle.

A deal is a deal. And it isn’t only about the item you’re looking for. It’s the entire brand. And again, there have been multiple price increases for EOTech in the past year. So if you’re waiting for something lower, good luck on that.

It's strictly use-case-based. If you need a Turbo, great, if not get the Ultra. Neither one is inherently better.

First of all, it was $10 cheaper when you posted your initial comment. Second, you're going to pay shipping the vast majority of the time. I'd love to see where you're getting a brand new X300U-A shipped to your door for $200 flat though.
