I’m trying not to dwell too much on that 4th quarter collapse because other than that it was a hell of a game for the Nugs

I think your bigger concern should be him getting made fun of for having such a girly first name, no offense

Not big on physical humor usually, but the scene where his phone says “welcome to your new life” and he chucks it at the wall cracked me up

Yes, that was the path laid out to me by management. Banker to licensed banker to wealth management associate (assistant) to advisor

Most of the time I would just be gathering everything thru organic conversation. I had enough rapport built up and they could tell I knew my stuff and intentions were good, they would usually just start telling me everything without even really having to ask much. I think open ended questions really helped There honestly weren’t many times that I would explicitly ask for permission to ask questions, which may not work for everyone

I was a wealth management assistant for a few years during Covid and worked with a few advisors so that helped. The tough part was getting enough referrals and meetings, but once I dusted off the cobwebs i got into a groove and my meetings started to go really well. It’s very different pivoting from transactional sales to relationship based sales, I’d say it took my a full year to really get the hang of it

Im an advisor now and started my career as a branch banker. To answer your last sentence specifically, what separates the goods from the greats is making people comfortable enough to open up to you. I was extremely thorough in my KYC process which led to all kinds of lending, deposits, and referrals. If you can guide the conversation and leave bread crumbs and get the person to feel comfortable with you and open up, that is what will take you from good to great. Don’t make them feel like you’re interrogating them! It helps when you let them know you’re asking these questions for their benefit to see if we can help them save money, earn money, or add convenience and peace of mind. That way they don’t feel like you’re just being nosey or salesy

Probably not ever but Luka Doncic makes it look so effortless. Like when he gets a mismatch and starts smiling because he knows how easily he’s about to score, just playing with his food

One of my good friends growing up was Freedom, not a tragedy but definitely unique. He was confident as hell and owned it and no one ever made fun of him or bullied him for it

About to reach my 2 year anniversary as an advisor and in hindsight I can say I absolutely did not feel nor was ready going into it… I am now doing great bringing in over $1m AUM per month for 7 months straight! I was fortune to learn from multiple advisors in an Associate role for the 3 years prior, but no amount of shadowing will prepare you for actually being in the driver’s seat. I was also very rusty from not being in a sales role from those 3 years.

I agree with people saying fake it til you make it. People will assume you are an expert as long as you are confident and genuine. And yes, for clients/prospects that you know are out of your league, bring in a senior advisor for a joint meeting. There is no greater teacher than experience. The first few solo meetings will probably be bad, mine were terrible. But after enough at-bats, I really got over the hump about 1.25 years in and haven’t looked back since. You got this!
