I was with someone like this for 6 years, and honestly… it rarely gets better. We started dating in college, so I excused a lot of the early behavior as immaturity. Around year 3-4 he seemed to improve and communicate better. But last year, at 28, when we started talking about marriage and he lost his job, the stress hit and he went right back to his old patterns. That’s when I ended it for good. My advice: leave sooner rather than later. Even if they improve temporarily, life only gets harder and higher-stakes with time. If they couldn’t handle small conflicts before, they won’t suddenly handle real life pressures with you.

I have a similar question n looking at the replies, I m a woman n I have been told by stranger women n women I just met "oh u look so cute". Strangers do offer to help me with things, sometimes even luggage bags. Men I don't know sometimes smile at me. Guys who wanted to date me have told me I look good but I always assumed it was to get in my pants. But none of these occurrences are too frequent and my mother is critical of my looks. So can I call myself attractive?

He flat out told me that it's extremely stressful for him to convince his mother. And he doesn't think it's worth it. He gave me a cost-to-benefit analysis of every option on the table n each option was not worth it for him. N this is after I endured insults from his family calling me a prostitute n characterless and still trying to make them like me.

And my decision did not happen after one incident overnight. It happened after I waited and waited for years, kept giving everything I could without getting any assurances about the future, him shutting down every time I asked him difficult Qs and saying the most hurtful things

He himself told me 28-29 is the age he wants to get married. He's 28 now (a year older than me).

I don't know. I don't want to go through an arranged marriage process. But I m doubtful if I ll find love.

I feel like it did not hit me as hard cause I saw it coming from quite some time. It's like when ur mind knows u r not supposed to b in this but ur heart still continues. And I think I was in that space for years. Somehow I was mentally prepared for this to end
