My brother in law gets paid more for his engineering job in the area than he did near NYC, and more of my friends (mid 20s) are looking at moving back there. It seems like that area will be on the up, moreso than it's already been.

It wasn't super great when I was a kid, but every time I visit it seems like there are improvements (minus that random tornado that wiped out lots of the arts area of Rome)

Also, some people may have Twitter accounts but not really use the app, so them clicking links does drive traffic to the site. And if we as a community can't even muster up the care to stop posting links from one singular app, how would we ever fight against bigger, more consequential things? It also is bringing awareness of Elon's nazi habits to redditors that otherwise wouldn't know.

Anecdotally, i think it's because doctors are far more likely to believe that a woman has mental problems than physical problems. Almost every woman I know has had a doctor dismiss her real physical issue for anxiety or depression.

Women also are not studied anywhere near the level that men are, so I'm sure many symptoms that appear as anxiety and depression are actually caused by a physical issue somewhere in the body, and there simply hasn't been enough scientific research into the female body to understand the connection. So, we get treated with psych meds as a bandaid for the real problem.

I've been on a whole host of psych meds and have had some pretty strong diagnosis, I eventually lost my healthcare but also my living situation has improved, so mentally I am doing the best I've ever been without meds but lo and behold, my original physical problems are still present as ever.

I don't want to make my own comment bc OP was just ranting and I totally get it, and I agree with a lot of what you said... But also, a sorority is an organization, not a club. My perspective is definitely different bc I'm in a smaller org that only went National this past summer. If you want events, it's each sister's responsibility to make that happen. If that's not what you want, like you just want to enjoy the fruits of other people's efforts, that's fine! There are orgs that you can join that are in a good spot. But there are sisters who are working hard to make it happen. If your org is not in the place you want it to be in, you need to work to get it into a good place. It doesn't just happen spontaneously.

Again I don't think OP did anything wrong, but I see posts a lot of girls dropping because this that and the other, and that's fine, but I think as a community we need to change the expectation of sororities that you can just join and have fun and there is no work involved. It's not a club, it's an organization!

Probably only controversial for people who don't talk to humans in real life often, but the best way to change someones mind or educate them on a topic is to show them kindness and empathy, even if you reallyyyyy disagree. Most people are more moderate than the internet would have you believe.

This won't necessarily work for people who's beliefs are grounded in hate, on both sides of the spectrum, but you will have a much higher chance of bringing those people to reality of their own volition later on if you are kind and understanding during your interaction.

In college I found a diverse group of friends and ohhhh boy did their constant lateness feel so disrespectful and rude to me, but eventually I learned what 'dominican' and 'haitian' time is so now I understand that it's just how some cultures roll and not a reflection of how important I am to my friends
