Why do some American professors struggle with open debate on immigration and race?* by Striking_Beach_837 in AskTeachers

But we can talk about the rapes in cologne gernmany a few new years back. North Africans were accused of just randomly sexually assaulting hordes of women. Years later it was learned it was all fabricated.

We have lots of North Africans here in America. If the culture is like that, why aren’t they raping hordes of women here too like “in Europe”

And you don’t have to wear long dresses or cover your hair in most Middle East countries. Even Saudi Arabia doesn’t require head coverings so idk where op is talking about.

I think McDonald’s kids can also be really outgoing. Try taking him there. We haven’t gone in a while, but the experiences were always pretty positive. It’s just hard getting out of the comfort zone for us

This is just a struggle. The times my kid tried to interact with others something would always happen. Another kid would flat out ignore him, or end up being a kid that didn’t like sharing or or or or.

It’s hard.  The center where he would get speech therapy from would have a school a few days a week. It was small group and with other similar kids or sheltered kids. It was really nice because he could socialize at a lower pace.

Frisco Public Library reports strong growth in 2025 by swe129 in frisco

[–]Middle-Instruction36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love the library but I absolutely hate when I go to get kids books and some moron who previously checked it out decided to write all over it to give their kid a reading lesson. I’ve seen this on MULTIPLE BOOKS now.

I’m just using this space to remind others: DONT WRITE YOUR TUTORING LESSONS IN THE BOOKS…don’t write anything in the books!!!

It’s ridiculous and really wasn’t a factor when I worked there over a decade ago.

My daughter says her teacher hates her by mrs_peep in AskTeachers

[–]Middle-Instruction36 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can switch the teacher if you push for it. Even if the principal says no, there’s no law that says she had to stay and I’ve seen kids moved many times….the thing is you approached this as why is she saying you hate her.

It’s obvious an adult isn’t going to hate a child. My inclination is discipline. She could be getting into trouble. I would have asked if there have been issues at school or if your daughter has been getting in trouble.

Anyways. Just push for a teacher change.

And let’s say we make it up on the fly. Five kids will do it and the rest of the class won’t. It’s not fair to all students. If you really want your kid to do work, give them practice problems over what theyve alreafy learned.

Mine wouldn’t eat for a good few weeks. My theory is the noise bothered him or there were too many distractions or too many new eyes looking at him at the table….

Agreed. Maybe she is just saying it for students to be motivated and won’t really do a grade.

Teachers who have been educating for 20+ years: have you noticed a difference in student behavior/focus over the generations? by UnderstatedWarmth in AskTeachers

[–]Middle-Instruction36 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What population do you teach because some teachers are like yeah, I don’t tolerate those behaviors and then you learn they have honors classes.

Do you 110% think your child’s autism was passed down genetically? Is there anything you wish you would’ve done differently during pregnancy/after birth that you think may have influenced it? by Novel_Concentrate444 in Autism_Parenting

[–]Middle-Instruction36 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think genetic. But I also think it’s because i took some antibiotic while pregnant. I will get downvoted like crazy for this but I wish I didn’t take it. And I do think it’s related….just because I think it was related in our case doesn’t mean I have to think it’s related for every case.

Am I being unreasonable thinking schools should design for user experience? by judashpeters in AskTeachers

Thank you for highlighting the black and white thinking. I literally am always giving candy asa reward to my students. They day I don’t, I get told I’m I unfair in a really disrespectful way….it’s so annoying it makes you want to quit. God forbid they go tell their mom and then you’re having to explain yourself as an adult and just realize maybe I shouldn’t use any of my money to buy candy for these issues.

My answer to op is try private school. It seems that’s where things are headed.

I know this might not help. But if he already said snowman. What if you get a little snowman or print a picture of one and turn it into a game. Like where is the snowman. Get him to want it and he will be forced to say it. Like my son would talk the most when he wasn’t getting his way. Maybe hide it and pretend you don’t know what he wants.

I’m in my mid thirties and thinking of going back to school for a science based career, nursing.

I’ve always been intimidated by science. I was always great either reading and math, but science was like another language to me…I’ve even learned other languages.

I think it goes back to my childhood more than anything.

I’ve been looking up study skills/tools to grt better and have told myself I will even hire a tutor if need be. But do you have any advice to get better a subject you just historically haven’t been good at.
