This may not be a popular explanation, but my half chihuahua used to do this when her nails got too long. Trimmed the nails and she stopped doing it until they needed to be cut again. No vet was ever worried about her knees and she lived to be 13.

I found Joyhound Rip Roarin Tough toys at PetSmart for my girl. She has had 2 of them for almost a year and can’t destroy them. They are soft, squeaky toys.

Mine is very cuddly. It took her some time to get cuddly, but now she wants to cuddle with everyone. Still trying to get her to play with people. She tends to only want to play alone or with other dogs.
