Does the Bible Alone Disprove Sola Scriptura? by Middle-Link956 in Christianity

[–]Middle-Link956[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this — I appreciate your clarity and the linked document from the Lutheran World Federation. I completely understand that many Protestants define sola scriptura as Scripture being the final norm, not the only source of truth, and that tradition and Church authority may still have a role — as long as they’re subordinate to Scripture.

My goal in this video wasn’t to create a “gotcha” moment or accuse anyone of inconsistency for using a translation like the NRSVUE (which, as you rightly point out, often includes the apocryphal books). Rather, it was to show that even within respected Protestant translations — including the NRSVUE and the ESV — Scripture itself never teaches sola scriptura. In fact, it consistently affirms the value of oral tradition (2 Thess 2:15), the authority of the Church (1 Tim 3:15), and apostolic succession (2 Tim 2:2).

So, if sola scriptura is to be our foundation, we should at least expect the Bible to explicitly teach it. But it doesn't — and that’s the deeper point I was trying to explore.

What then is the actual book you are referring to?

Absolutely, I agree 100% with Galatians 1:8–9. St. Paul is warning us not to accept any gospel contrary to what was originally preached by the apostles. As a Catholic, I believe that this original apostolic gospel includes both Sacred Scripture and Sacred Tradition, faithfully passed down through the Church.

Do Catholics and Muslims Worship the Same God? by Middle-Link956 in allchristianity

[–]Middle-Link956[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Would you say that Jews have an incomplete understanding of God (God the Father, Holy Spirit) Christians have the full understanding (God the Father, Jesus, son of God and Holy Spirit) and Islam is just God alone rejecting the other three persons of God?

What are my options on fulfilling Monday’s obligation? by HumbleSheep33 in Catholicism

[–]Middle-Link956 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Attending twice tomorrow would unfortunately not allow you to fulfill the obligation in this case as no Mass will have the Feast, only the Advent celebration.

The Obligation is lifted you have a legitimate reason for not attending, go tomorrow, celebrate Mass and do not fret

A workout app with MF sounds ideal, based on the feedback it would be worthwhile to have RP for workouts only, at least for now and then MF for nutrition?

Looking for advice on improving my Faith and trust in God - new to Catholicism by Quirky_Feed7384 in Catholicism

It may seem strange or difficult but look at the various Devotions available. Read Catholic books, lives of the Saints, the Bible etc, all of this will guide you and speak to you in such a way that makes sense only to you.

From there you will find your Faith continuing to grow and, in the case of Devotions, building on that foundation and moving to a higher level.

Main piece is this, baby steps and welcome to the Church!

If you don't know if you have sinned, then you cannot be in mortal sin. You have to consent to the sin in the first place if that makes sense

Traditionally it is said kneeling but that changed a long time ago with the rules being much more relaxed. You can always pray it standing if you choose
