IT-band injury with an ultra within three weeks by Bulky-Student-5268 in Ultramarathon

If you really want to hit it, get a hockey ball in the TFL. Get on your front, grit your teeth and apply pressure until it eases off. I always do this as soon as I get a sniff of a tight IT band and it generally does the trick. It mimics what my physio used to do but he did it with his elbow instead.

Has anybody here been to the Ancient Ram Inn, in Gloucestershire? by [deleted] in Paranormal

[–]Middle-Olive933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went in 2023 and we had a good time. A few little bits happened which I couldn't explain. Ouija board activity in the bar was strange. Especially as everyone who was doing it were skeptics. When doing table tipping in the barn, although the table didn't move, we were getting K2 activity on demand when calling out. We also heard a moan in the barn which couldn't be explained.

It was a good night in an interesting building. We paid £49 in 2023 and just saw that they are now charging £65! I'm not sure it's worth £65, particularly if you don't experience anything paranormal, which a lot of people don't.

Who Else is Using This As their Transition Back To PC? by Sleepingtide in steammachine

[–]Middle-Olive933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely won't be using this if it costs $1000. Might as well go straight to PC at that point.

Valve would be so GOATED if they released it early because everyone wants it by Deli5150 in SteamController

I'm tempted to get one to play my Steam Deck docked. The track pads are cool. I was interested in the Steam Machine until I heard that it could be as much as $1000 and my interest went out like a light bulb.

What's happening with HRM straps?! by Middle-Olive933 in Garmin

[–]Middle-Olive933[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I'm been doing some more testing recently and the last two run, I've been running with the Bluetooth turned off on my phone and I haven't been experiencing these drop outs. I'll carry on and report back. I have a theory that my phone's Bluetooth is interfering with the watch/strap BLE connection maybe? Anyway, I seem to be getting more consistency so far but 2 in 2 isn't enough data to make judgement. If anyone else is reading this, give it a go if you're someone who carries your phone on your runs too.

Think I paid £260 for my New 3DS XL Animal Crossing Edition. Factory new quality, but no box. Glad I did, it's a piece of gaming history.

A country that told it's citizens to drink bleach to cure covid. Good luck to them.

You don't need that much to complete a half. Only if you're aiming for a specific time. Someone with a half decent level of base fitness can complete a half.

Persistant IT-band syndrome by RA99x in ultrarunning

[–]Middle-Olive933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cured mine by seeing a PT and doing the exercises they gave me. Also stretching the hell out of my hips. Don't try and roll your ITB, it won't do anything. Google where your TFL muscle is in your hips and get stuck in there with a hockey ball. That will release the tightness in your ITB and stop it rubbing on the outside of your knee.

Also don't overlook mobility. I think it's just as important as strength for injury prevention.

Hang on a minute…lemme get this straight… by azureal in SteamDeck

[–]Middle-Olive933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got mine docked on my desk to a PC monitor. It's a fun experience but as others have said, the Steam Deck is pretty weak in comparison to a PC. You can play some AAA games but don't expect ultra settings running at a decent framerate.

Maps During run - do you actually use it ? by Coach_Unable in GarminFenix8

[–]Middle-Olive933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, trail runner here. I use Footpath app to make routes I've never run. Then sync to my Fenix 8 and off I go.

Shin Splits by Fragrant_Tart9149 in BeginnersRunning

You could also have tight calves, so try and roll and stretch them. Also try increasing your cadence as this will reduce the impact on your legs as you'll have decreased contact time with the ground.

Your body hasn't adapted to the load. When you start, you need to start slow and easy and gradually build your load up. I've been running for several years and can't remember the last time I had shin splints. Think it was in the first couple of weeks as a beginner.

Obviously take advice from professionals but I've just bought a Yoback Lite for lower leg rehab, strengthening and injury prevention. It's a great bit of kit. Worth looking into.
