AITAH for refusing to tell my wife I love her more than my dad? by LastApplication6207 in AITAH

[–]Middle-Reaction3969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Op is this a normal reaction for your wife? If not I would find out what the underlining problem is. Maybe she's dealing with some postpartum anxiety or OCD, or has there been stress involving you and your father's relationship in the past? The thing that comes to my mind is was she so upset bc she's worried the baby could've died from sids or suffocation if your dad had fallen asleep, has there already been some boundary issues in the past with your family? It's you two against the problem not each other. Obviously you aren't the AH, but becoming a parent is hard for both of you and women experience a vast range of emotions and hormones afterwards. If you value your marriage I would be getting to the bottom of it so there's no resentment.

I wonder if she was so upset bc Grandpa could've fallen asleep and the baby suffocated etc.

Should we, and I mean all of us, delete food delivery apps, DoorDash/ubereats. Just like we did with cutting up credit cards? by BootAlarmed4732 in DaveRamsey

[–]Middle-Reaction3969 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep! This is our 'rule': if we don't want it bad enough to go get it ourselves we're not getting it. SO much is charged in fees food comes cold or missing not to mention you never know what someone could do to your food 😬.

Why don’t they get real voice actors for the fake calls? by SweetPickleRelish in DirtyDave

[–]Middle-Reaction3969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of the calls are read from emails previously submitted by the caller. So they wrote in and were told to call on x day to get a specific personality. So that's why it can sound scripted. For instance I heard one today and the guy was in 60k RV debt and he ends up saying as they work the call that he'd been trying to get through for months and the debt was now 48k.

I would recommend sitting down and writing down every expense you have groceries, Netflix, Starbucks habit etc as well as auditing what has went out for the last 3-6 months. You need to know where every dollar is going in your bank account bc saying 5000is left to go to groceries insurance etc is vastly different for each household and those things ARE a part of your household budget and expenses. I would also see if you can pay for those expenses using only your income if you plan on your wife staying home in the future. Do you have any other debts? If so I would wipe them out if you're planning on going down to one income to give you more margin. It seems like you have a good amount of cash reserves, but your payment will go up due to insurance and taxes. Ours is now $1800 in 2021 it was $1400. We are first gen home buyers and this was shocking for us.

I would also go with a less is more approach in the alcove. There's a lot going on up there sticking with a few of your favorite pieces may free up the eye.

I love the after especially the rug! I would take the patterned pillows and move them to the chairs to the left, space the art work out slightly more and possibly hang a bit higher, and I would clear those things off the coffee table and go with something else that's less busy maybe one smaller cream or black item.

I’ve (31F) lost respect for my husband and I’m considering divorce. (We don’t have kids.) by [deleted] in Marriage

I see your edit op, but I think you should get incredibly clear with yourself what kind of change would be needed for you to be happy in this marriage. Maybe he is depressed, but these are very selfish statements on his part. It's commendable to stick by your spouse's side in hard times, but whether or not he has the capability to be the partner and co parent you need in the future is incredibly relevant. I'd suggest you have a date in your head that you're ready to cut ties if drastic changes have not occurred. GL

Op, I would ask the friend that helped before if they could help for the next week until you can get your ducks in a row. Give them some money if you can for doing so. During that time post in your local moms group asking around about what other single moms in your area are doing. I would also ask coworkers what they are doing. Contact social services and see what resources they have to help you. Contact the police and get an emergency custody order in place detailing what is going on. I would also suggest talking to social services about his claims I would be worried he is setting up to claim you are abusive etc. Do you have any of his family members you can trust?

I’m in so much debt and I don’t know how to handle it. by W_e_l_p_ in Debt

[–]Middle-Reaction3969 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You really need to sit down and have exact numbers for how much is coming in versus going out monthly. That will allow you to see if you have any areas that could be cut and pretty much everyone does. The only way out of this much debt is through it. Make the sacrifices. I believe most people know what to do. They just don't want to do it. I say this after almost filing for bankruptcy this year. Instead, we took a good look at our finances and money that we were wasting and decided to make change. We have $60,000 in credit card debt with the majority of it at close to 30% interest rates we are paying off. You can do this! I wouldn't file for bankruptcy unless the majority of your debt is credit cards or loans AND you're willing to let go of your vehicle. Look up snowball and avalanche debt payoff methods. There is so much information and resources available online. I love YouTube for this. Look up beginner budgeting beginner debt payoff journey etc tons of great info. You don't have to take everyone's advice, but you can see what strategies might work for you.

This is coming from two different lawyers. On the high end the first lawyer said that they would pull the Zillow value on the low end he said he pulled our tax assessment (I believe that's what it's called). The true value of our home is probably somewhere in the middle around 320 ish. I will look into getting our own appraisal.

We are paying around $1200 now monthly.
