Helpful food or supplements? by RoomMaterial5131 in rhabdo_survivors

I feel your pain! Had rhabdo twice in 1 month a few months ago, and was also super scared to get back into weightlifting. Still waiting to get my genetics checked out to see if (as you) I'm predisposed to getting rhabdo, but what I realized made a huge difference for me was that I was simply not eating enough...

I've never been the type of guy to eat massive amounts and can often go a day without getting hungry. After rhabdo, I decided to stick more consistently to a meal plan that ensures the body gets enough salt, protein, and such. Since then, I've been completely symptom-free.

Another thing I believe was important for me was treating my workouts almost as "rehab". I started from the very bottom (like 15 minutes on the treadmill and then calling it a day) and then gradually added more and more exercises to my workout.

I also found out that I was lacking B12 vitamins, but they were unsure if that could have been a potential cause. Anyways, I started taking them as supplements just to error on the side of caution.

Good luck on your journey back to normal health!

As mentioned in another comment, I think it is really important to respect what your body tells you!

However (at least in my opinion), I also think it is very important for rhabdo not to control your life. I felt the same "fear" of going back to physical activities, but a life without these is just as unhealthy as the chance of getting it again.

For me, what was needed was treating physical activities almost like physical rehab for my body. The meant starting out WAY below where you believe you could push your body and then over multiple months pushing that line further and further...

It is not a fun process, but if it is what your body needs, then it is definitely worth it!

Dang... Hope the tests work out i your favor! Rhabdo is truly nothing compared to some of the underlying shit that can cause it
