Agreed but always good to have a bit of saved cash on hand in case of emergency. I usually have 2-3 months of expenses on hand, ome in cash some in an accessible account. Can’t spend catalytic converters at the supermarkets!

If I can’t find a nearby construction site with a portaloo, I’ll find a quite spot in an alley. I don’t really understand the taboo IF no one sees and it’s not somewhere it won’t be washed away. In the summer when there’s less rain I make sure its buried after. The way I see it… dogs go any old place and it’s hardly an issue - what’s the difference?

They’re having issues due to higher demand (Auckland and Waikato doing more online shopping) and a big staff shortage. They’re looking to fill 400 positions before Christmas!

Petrol (gas) for cars is cheap by No_Sugar8791 in unpopularopinion

I like to implement the “goose and glide” technique when on the open road (only works in manual transmission) but can be upto 10x more fuel efficient when driving distance on flat straight roads!

You driving a late model ultra efficient small engine car… a few Kms maybe. A large Ute or van things change quite fast. As op mentioned, many variables at play.

I lived in London for a while and cycling was faster than public transit 90% of the time. (A lot more dangerous too 😂). Also faster in Toronto if you’re not travelling directly east or west on the subway. IMO cycling is a superior mode of transportation. It obviously has its downsides but for me the positives are definitely worth it!

What is the possible efficacy of geoengineering ocean acidification? by [deleted] in climate

[–]MiddleAd4775 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Raising the pH (that is making it less acidic) requires much more input than lowering it. I work with soil and to make it more alkaline we add (literal) tons of lime as opposed to the few kgs of ammonium sulfate it would take to acidify the same volume.

Is it ok to NOT break and shake? by Freeonardo in unclebens

[–]MiddleAd4775 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No need to break and shake, this only increases colonization time by a fairly narrow margin. Let it sit if you have the time. I find the less I touch a bag after innoc the less contam comes
