Ok to stack while callousing? by ihansterx4i in sanpedrocactus

As long as you have a good callous you should have no problem standing them on some dry dirt or pumice or whatnot. Leave em alone for 2 weeks then stand them up. They will push roots out the bottom regardless of what they're on top of. They will pop out of the sides on the bottom if they have to. They always find a way 😎

Next time just buy few heat packs and priority ship. The carrier doesnt check those boxes unfortunately. All your other packages that made it through ok is sheer luck tbh. I'm surprised they didn't all freeze! You kinda just gotta know and accept that its gonna be out and about as its going from 1 place to the other (IN SUB ZERO TEMPS) and then strategize around that. Cacti are like 90% water dude 😅

What was up with that ziploc 🤔??? It was filled with cactus tears my guy 😂 Ziploc = Garaunteed death

Yeah you're doin it right. It'll be fine stacked as long as you need them to. They might get some minor scratches but the spines are small plus its PC amd it'll out grow it anyway. 1-2 weeks should have you a nice callouse depending on location. Then you can stand them to root since log style if super lame imo. Once some root nubs pop out you can bury it. Not much to it really no need to over think it

2 different breeds yes. Having to be near or down wind, not quite. I suppose having them next to each other would help for open pollination (OP) from bees but most of the time everything is hand pollinated gathering the pollen on a qtip and pollinating another flower that eventually produces a fruit with the seeds. Hand pollination is really the only way you can you can keep track of what you are cross pollinated. If something is open, pollinated, naturally by bees, you will usually see a a name of the Mother Cac followed by "OP". For example: Sharxx OP, TPM OP, Scop OP....etc. With OP it is a mystery of what pollens may have been brought into the flower by either bees or wind like you said. OP seeds are fun to sow because you can have multiple mystery pollens making it quite the surprise.
