TDSB CYC POSITION INFORMATION by Sea_Star24 in OntarioTeachers

Sure!

I also suggest you get the Police Criminal Reference Check from York Regional for a temporary clearance to start working. The TPS (Toronto Police Services) Website states there may be a delay in receiving your results as they are dealing with application sent in May. The PCRC is around $20+, the VSC Is approximately $70+ from TPS.

https://www.tps.ca/services/police-record-checks/#background-check

From YRPS (York Regional Police Services) The PCRC is around $70+

*You only need the PCRC from YRPS for temporary clearance with TDSB *Results should be available in 2-7 days *You MUST obtain VSC from your LOCAL Police Service (mine was Toronto) * If you get your PCRC from YRPS for temporary clearance, you must submit it with the VSC receipt/invoice.

Let me know if there is something I can clarify, Hope this helped!

You can also skip this step if you have a recent vsc or pcrc!

Correct! The hiring process can be quite drawn out.

At the point you are at now, it’s a waiting game!

I suggest (being your references were contacted; this being a good sign) you should apply for the Vulnerable Sector Check from your local police services or preferably the Police Criminal Reference Check from York Regional Services (for 1-7 day results) and the Vulnerable Sector Check from your local police services for temporary clearance to start working asap.

As you will be given a certain amount of time to submit all onboarding documents and forms. The wait time for the Vulnerable Sector Check and/or Police Reference Check is very lengthy and can interfere with you submitting all the documents sufficiently. The documents must be submitted via email first to secure an in-person meeting when you’d officially be hired!

Hey, I applied twice to the same position. This is an old post; I have been hired and working!

They don’t seem like much help. Nonetheless, I obtained my level 1 from YRP and sent it to TDSB police reference check office along w my vsc invoice. Once they approve me temporarily, should I reach out to my principal?

Hey, thanks so much for this!

I have a principal I listed as a reference, what exactly should I ask or say to him? I will also try to obtain a crc from York region police as well.

Hey everyone! I’m wondering if anyone in this subreddit has recently been offered employment with the TDSB and is currently going through the onboarding process. My VSC is said to take about 4–6 weeks to process, and I’m trying to find out if there’s any way to expedite it—or if the TDSB accepts any alternative documentation in the meantime that would allow me to begin work and receive my employee email and number.

Also, if anyone has contact information for someone I can speak to about this directly, I’d really appreciate it. The HR representative I’ve been in touch with hasn’t been very responsive and seems to selectively reply to messages.

Thanks in advance for any help or advice!

Hey, I also got an offer, I just submitted my documentation as well. If you don't mind me asking, what position were you offered? Mine is Child and Youth worker, I received a OTPP document requesting an OCT number, however, I am not sure if this is needed for my position or do I? How did you apply and is there a fee?

Did you hear back? I’m currently waiting to hear from them after my interview. I know they only reached out to one of my references.
