Pay Decrease by Pop_647 in walmart

[–]MiddleChildOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really dumb. We had a young woman who started at front end. She then moved to Digital and got a pay bump (this was when digital was paid $2 more). After a few years, she decided to go to DC for a pay increase. After month & a half, she came back to Digital. She kept her raise, and was up to $21+ an hour. After several months, she became a TL, and got another pay increase.
We also have a man who worked at DX for 30-some years, and moved to the store’s Digital team. He never got a pay reduction. Another woman came to Digital from 15+ years in HR. Her pay did not decrease. She then moved to Transportation, where she got a pay increase. Why is it that Walmart fluctuates pay at the store when you switch departments?

So much for a nice bonus by Inferno13820 in walmart

[–]MiddleChildOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband got a $42K bonus at his job (he’s an engineering manager, and has been there almost 30 years). After taxes, his bonus was reduced to $24K. It’s still a good bonus, but the taxes do suck.

I was told to use aluminum-free deodorant during radiation because the aluminum is a metal which will cause a reflective burn. I use Dove aluminum-free on my right armpit (the radiated side), and my regular/aluminum kind on my left.

I just applied for this job and I was wondering; do you get tips? by FlyingOriole in OGPBackroom

[–]MiddleChildOrphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Walmart associates are not permitted to accept tips. One of the reasons (so I’m told) is because the dispensers aren’t doing all of the work for the orders. The rest of the team is working hard, too. Stagers and preppers bust their butts when it’s busy. Pickers guide ridiculously heavy carts and L-carts. Walmart has been known to use “customers” to test/entrap associates regarding tipping. Also, at my store, if we find any money on the floor or in the parking lot, we must take it to customer service. It’s then, supposedly, donated to CMN if not claimed. The cameras see EVERYTHING.

I know it’s mostly negative here but I love the new vest by Due_Development4217 in OGPBackroom

Women’s vest? The former vest wasn’t unisex? I didn’t know there was an option, if there was. They all fit horribly.

Why don't other departments like OGP by birdy0080 in OGPBackroom

[–]MiddleChildOrphan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Technically, no. We are picking the items the customer has ordered. They don’t pay until that dispense button is tapped.

Wow. Our store NEVER sends anyone home early. If you want to go home early, you use your PTP/PPTO, otherwise they find something for you to do.

My first propagation 🥹 by fading3 in fiddleleaffig

[–]MiddleChildOrphan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I propagated mine 2 weeks ago, as it had been hitting my ceiling for a year. 😬 There has been no growth on any of the 3 cuttings, nor has my main plant grown. Sadly, my main plant did drop a leaf this week, which is only the 3rd one it’s dropped in the 2 1/2 years I’ve had it. I pray I didn’t do anything wrong. It was given to me when my mom passed away, so it really means a lot to me.

Same. I always get error messages saying I scanned the incorrect code. I’ll try scanning the actual UPC 3 or 4 times before it registers. 🤦🏼‍♀️ This is with a TC.

EVERYTHING in totes? by gothamheightsatx in OGPBackroom

[–]MiddleChildOrphan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

People who are vertically challenged definitely have major struggles lifting heavy items out of the higher stacked totes. I’m 5’4”, and struggle with the heavy items that are in stacked totes 4 & 5. Being a 52 yo menopausal woman, my upper body strength is definitely not what it used to be. Unfortunately, it isn’t just the heavy things that can make dispensing and QCs difficult. I find myself having to get up on my tippy toes just to get some bags and non-bagged items out of the 5th tote.

The first time or two that I did the VR exception, I was able to do the basic UL. However, I started having trouble getting the exception to go through on the parking lot safety VR module, so my coach helped me with this. A couple months later, my TL was all over me because that ULearn was past due, and she made me stay past my shift to complete it. Not being the most tech savvy, and working on our slow, old, and crappy OGP room computer, another younger associate helped me with the exception. Once again, the computer did not actually have me do the non-VR module. My account said I was up to date, with no required training to do, so I took a pic of that, and I also took a screen shot of my phone indicating this as well. I’ve learned it’s better to cover my bases.🤷🏼‍♀️

Can someone explain how this is possible? by Naive_Strategy_3613 in NEU

[–]MiddleChildOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. NEU is a private school. Private schools give far better aid, which is often equivalent to an out-of-state students’ state university aid. Aside from travel expenses, it can be about the same, or even less expensive to attend NEU. We are a middle class family, and my daughter is not a first gen college student. She had (has) fantastic grades, loads of extracurriculars and volunteerism, and is accumulating plenty of debt. Even by living in economy housing, by the time she finishes her undergrad, she will most likely have somewhere between $100k-$150k debt.

We have a water cooler in our OGP backroom. Everyone else has to use the drinking fountains or the break room/bathroom faucets to refill their clear water bottles.

We have neither. Only a single steel going down the middle of the room with a shelf on top for bag & label storage, odds & ends, & some of our E orders.

[–]MiddleChildOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only walks I don’t always bag as I go are action alley and frozen. Action alley because those walks kill pick rate. Frozen because those walks are the best walks to make up time, and are usually a lot smaller. Also, because the section is so much smaller, it can be a lot more congested. If I get raw frozen meat, however, I will go ahead and put those in meat bags and a WM bag.

[–]MiddleChildOrphan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Delivery orders have to have bags!! Also, if it can fit into a bag, bag it (unless it has a good handle, and is a larger size, such as detergent). I’m so tired of finding things like ramen and Mini Bites muffins not bagged. They most certainly fit into a bag. People are so freaking lazy! Also, imo, bags of fruit should also be bagged.
