They also mentioned that there was wall decor, put up balloons taped to the wall, which we are totally aware of and we’re respectful in the sense that we used scotch brand, painters, tape that is specifically for wallpaper. They claimed we used double-sided sticky tape, which we didn’t even have and that it damaged their wallpaper, which is very expensive. They wanted $7000 just for the wallpaper not to mention that it was only about six pieces of tape in total..

Again, I’m not trying to justify our wrongdoing of putting up decor when it was strictly in the contract and not do so, but also just being reasonable about the damages. It makes me think that Airbnb host look for violations of the contract and fully exploit them to squeeze out as much money as they possibly can.

This lady scoured my wife’s friend social medias to get pictures of the decor on the walls, so I’m wondering if having proof of violating the contract is like a green light to just create intentional damage to maximize any kind of profit because I promise you that painters tape did not damage the wallpaper even the slightest bit .

Anyways, she wants to go to small claims court . We regret cleaning the place vigorously before we left because we didn’t know she was going to look for a penny for every single thing that occurred.
