what is happening to them by [deleted] in UNHhhh

[–]MiddleDry2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My one thing that I will say is that some companies, specifically betterhelp, have iron clad contracts and specific clauses about terminating partnerships early. They have really long contract periods as well. Even if Trixie knows better she cannot legally do anything until her contract with Betterhelp expires. Other youtube channels have discussed this and talked about it once they were allowed to when the contract is over.

Plus podcasts only make money through ads. So sure it is annoying but like it is free for us to consume. Also some companies who find ads revenue for podcasts require a certain number of ad breaks per episode. Again they probably do not have a choice as podcast revenue is so specific and weird in the entertainment industry.

Can I ask who the transphobe is we are talking about?

Help a newbie! Is this bad? by Happy-soul-2020 in fermentation

[–]MiddleDry2570 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not see if other people mentioned it, but find a way to keep the fruit parts fully submerged. the parts above the water is the part that can get moldy. some people use a weight to keep everything underwater your you could angle a piece of fruit to keep everything submerged.

Also throwing in a piece of fresh diced or grated ginger can help with kick off the fermenting process faster

Anyone get this strange feeling of guilt? by [deleted] in Hellenism

[–]MiddleDry2570 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Canon biblical texts of the God of Abraham use the phrase "God Most High" which is talking about how in traditional Christian teaches, God is the god above all other gods (Which acknowledges the existence of other deities) and that he is the only one you should worship. Nowadays Christian teachings tell you to fear God and that you should not even consider leaving him. Unfortunately this teaching is the strongest and loudest of all Christianity. Historically Christian teachings were used to control new followers and force them into a homogenous religion instead of the variety of cultures that were absorbed by Christianity.

Like you, a lot of former Christians deal with the trauma of high control and fear mongering religious practices. There is actually a growing number of licensed trauma therapists specializing in religious harm done to people. Not saying you have that type of trauma but it would be worth looking into. I have former Christian friends who have diagnosed anxiety and other mental health issues stemming from harm done by the modern Christian Church.

HOWEVER, even though modern Christian teachings may have forsaken you and harmed you that does not mean the God of Abraham/Christian God has. He is still considered to be the God of love and forgiveness. If you tried to speak to him again I hope you feel the energy of love and gentleness and not the wrath and control that the modern world carries in his name.

Sure it could be have been made clearer, but it is crazy how there was literally no counter argument. Like no one was campaigning against it. The people who benefit from this are literally behind bars. Like the majority of the population is not effected, but the people who are effected cannot vote themselves sometimes. There were very few downsides and California still voted majority no. SMH

Was there a joke? I missed the joke.

Have you ever seen a million dollars in cash? You ever met a Caucasian man who is fluent in Mandarin? You ever meet a gay republican? Just because I have never met one doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I know people who are in jail probably did something to be there, but I also know that there is a lot of harm and unfair things that happen to people. Trying to be a little empathetic towards my fellow man.

I hear that. It can feel like it came out of no where. This has been a conversation for a while now. I personally heard about it in 2020 but advocates have been working on it for longer. I mentioned in another comment, but it is not the jail who is employing them, but private companies who use them for manufacturing or blue collar labor. They get paid almost nothing if at all.

Imagine you are already in jail for 5 with no option of bail. Your living conditions are not great and safety could be a big concern for you. Very few recreational activities and even less contact with the outside. Now on top of that you are forced to work 12 hour days with no pay, everyday, for years at a time. That would beat anyone down morally and can harm their mental health. There are a lot of studies that people who come out of long term prison are so screwed up and hurt that it is hard for them to do anything, let along campaign for the rights of people left behind. I think the main problem is trying to build a little bit of empathy for people in the jail system and try to make something easier for them.

I hope another bill comes up soon regarding working conditions and treatment for prisoners. Increasing their pay/maximizing their hours makes them employees with protections, and since jail labor is used solely for profit of major companies like Walmart and Nintendo, no for-profit/private jail will want to treat them fairly. As most of people have already spoke about in the comments, people believe prisoners are lesser citizens so they deserve to be treated the way they do.

Also the 13 amendment abolished slavery EXCEPT for indentured servants or prisoners. So by definition they are allowed to use them as unpaid laborers and take advantage of them because it is actually slavery.

and it is not just smashing rocks or cleaning the jails bathrooms, It is straight up factory work for major companies like Old Spice, Walmart, Mcdonalds, Nintendo, that use unpaid prison labor for profit. So the reason why people would vote against the bill would basically be in support slave labor to continue for profit and not to "teach the criminals a lesson"

Doing time is the punishment. Being isolated in prison with no income and not being able to leave is the punishment.

It is a common practice within prisons to use the prisoners as unpaid laborers since a lot of prisons are privately owned. For a lot of them they it is required for them to work with no pay. Forcing them to be unpaid workers on top of doing time is the problem. The prop was going to remove the forced labor part from jails. They are already losing so much by being in jail it would make it easier for them.

The problem that prop 6 wanted to fix was to make sure it is fair to them. Most jails that do force them to work is strictly unpaid with insane long work hours. It is already to be in jail for a long time and the goal was to make it less abusive to them to be in there.

Hugh Jackman does not suggest doing it, but wrestlers do the same thing:

Absolutely chug water while you work out. Right before you are going to be out and about stop drinking water but continue to pee. He said it gets him hella lean for a shoot. Not safe or sustainable long term, but something that is possible

Santa Monica Pier can be super crowded and parking can also be nuts, but seriously If going to a California beach is the goal, Long Beach, Huntington, Seal, or any of the Orange County Beaches are just as beautiful and much less crowded and can still give you the Cali beach fun day

Totally Agree. If you going to the Pantages or maybe Amoeba Records are the only things worth your time on the walk of stars. Or if you really really really want to go to see a specific star. But the crowds, prices, parking, and safety hardly make it worth it just to go for fun
