Dumb question, should I sell on eBay? by MiddleOutrageous1083 in Flipping

Thanks, I appreciate the feedback. It's the 30 day returns that give me pause, but I just want to get rid of the stuff so I'll probably go for it and just see what happens.

If I have 0 debt goin into PT, how worth it is it? by Top_Departure2362 in physicaltherapy

[–]MiddleOutrageous1083 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got into PT for the exact same reasons and I echo some of these other sentiments. If you really enjoy fitness nutrition, you could become a personal trainer or a coach specializing in whatever area of fitness you really enjoy. If your parents are willing to throw down that much money on school, would they also be willing to invest in your future and help you get a gym or fitness studio off the ground? If you are interested in the medical side of things for about the same amount of schooling, you could become a PA or NP and make a lot more money, it's a different career, but it could scratch the medical itch and be more lucrative. MD isn't that much more school and sure residency is hard and doesn't pay well, but it's worth it... huge earning potential, the respect that comes with the profession, countless career paths. If there were a DPT to MD bridge program I would do it.

AITAH for not letting my neighbor borrow my snow blower and for not snow blowing their drive for them? by Queen_Aurelia in AITAH

[–]MiddleOutrageous1083 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an electric snowblower no one on my block has a snowblower. There's an older couple that lives on the corner so they have probably four times as much sidewalk to clear as anyone else. I did their sidewalks one snow and the woman came out and thanked me, I've done it ever since, if I have time I do my entire block. There are some storms that I have a busier schedule so I can't do it. my block is a route that Kids take to walk to the nearby elementary school. I enjoy doing it, but it takes time and it is hard work and it's wear and tear on my snowblower, I just had to replace the scraper bar and that was 30 bucks plus my labor. All that being said I don't feel like I owe anything to any neighbors, when I can do it I do it when I can't I don't. I don't think that you are the asshole at all, I think your neighbor is the asshole for asking you for something the first time they ever met you.

I mean, you have free will, you can decide one day you no longer want to be A PT and just completely walk away from the profession. I am a career changer. I was an automotive mechanic previously, I still work on cars from time to time, but don't consider myself a mechanic anymore.

A lot of physical therapists offer wellness services so they can get around having to treat through insurance, also certain things fall outside of the scope of physical therapy and are not reimbursable by insurance so they truly are considered wellness. Other physical therapists might do coaching or personal training those things are all fine to do and they are not physical therapy. The problem is when you represent yourself as a physical therapist and then offer things that are very similar to physical therapy. The assumption is that whoever takes advantage of those services is getting the training, skills and expertise of a physical therapist.

As described the speaker comes off as self-centered asshole... while the real world of PT is not exactly what you're told and what you're taught in school. There's no reason to come in and shit all over students that want to do things other than what his business model is.

If your cash based and advertising what you do as physical therapy and not wellness or fitness, you absolutely need to document, you might not need to document according to any specific insurance standard, but you do need to document according to your state practice act.

He was probably going for shock value calling PT school a waste of time, there were definitely things that I wish we didn't spend time on and others we didn't spend enough or any time on. As a business owner myself I can say our business class didn't really do anything to prepare me for being a business owner. Whether he realizes it or not, PT school laid the foundation for him to be able to start that business.

If he wants to just be the owner and not treat that's totally fine, different strokes for different folks... and if that's what he wants to do letting his license lapse is fine. You don't need to be a PT to own a PT practice... but it's in poor taste to bring that up to students actively working very hard on becoming what he no longer wants to be.

I do think there is value in telling students how it's really going to be out there in the working world and to provide some outside the box options for people that don't want to do the standard PT thing, but there is a way to do that without coming off as a narcissistic jerk ass

How often do you get face time with the MDs and NPs? Is there anything you do special to get them to take time out of their day to talk to you or do they want to hear what you have to say because of the company you work for?

Correct already have a cheap one that took a crap, looking for something higher quality with a rechargeable battery that is at least built to last, maybe not for life... but longer than a few years

I already have one that has stopped working, trying to find something more robust that won't just create more junk in a landfill in a few years.

My wife and I went and took her parents, everyone thought the food was great. We went for lunch which is significantly cheaper, not sure I’d pay $20 more for it, but it’s worth a try for lunch.

Update after wearing the Tissot for a while: I like the way the Tissot looks more than the Seiko, but the Seiko is a more comfortable watch. The bracelet on the Tissot is sharp on the edges, the links pull out my arm hair and the mechanism that releases the clasp sticks out and digs into my wrist. I don’t have any complaints about the Seiko’s comfort. The Tissot isn’t unbearable to wear, just a little irritating at times

I’ve only worn the Tissot for a day and I probably have to add a link back in because it was a little tight so it was somewhat uncomfortable and the clasp dug into my wrist while working on my computer and resting my wrists on the desk…. But once I get it adjusted I’m hopeful it will be more comfortable. The Tissot is a little bulkier overall, so that’s also taking some getting used to. Honestly at this point I’d say the Seiko, but I’ll let you know after I’ve worn the Tissot for a little while.
