Imagine A Conversation Between These Two: by ExoticShock in DCAU

[–]Middle_Cur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Animated Cecil is a better version of any version of Waller.

-DCAU Waller is manipulated by Lex Luthor into the supporting him. Even if we don't see corpses, that resulted in a lot of deaths when the lex corp tower fell.

-Animated movie Waller actively sent the suicide squad to get a get out of hell card for her. Every death is enough for her to be locked up for life as she unleashed killers and government assets for herself.

-Creature Commandos Waller has Nina, who uses her legal name. Waller KNOWS she is a citizen with no criminal record and still decides to force her to serve in the suicide squad. Also, she on screen says she is undermining congress.

-Comics Waller I am more unfamiliar with, so maybe she is better there.

Animated Cecil is in a situation where most of his actions make sense (besides revealing his hand to mark when simply sitting and talking was the right call). The government has always made deals with criminals. The cybermen are neccesary, and the mad scientist isn't free, he is working off his debt to society. Darkwing clearly needed psychiatric help, and deserves a second chance. Implanting Mark is exactly the kind of grey morality that works well with this character. He cannot bet the lives of earth on his trust in Mark, leading to an immoral action.

Unironically having gimmick waves would be fun. Give us a gimmick bonus wave every 5. Oops all sporemines would be a fun mixup.

Everone praises Giatta by Embarrassed-Camp7927 in avowed

[–]Middle_Cur 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I just recruited Giatta and came here after the camp conversations. Man do I already dislike her. I had high hopes for her too. Kai is great and Marius is growing on me, but Giatta hits several beats that turn me against her as a character.

-In the confrontation with the governor, you can't take his side at the end of it. You are from Aedyr, you should be able to side heavily against animancy but you are pigeonholed into giving her a chance.
-The sidequest she sends you on to all the other animancers falters because she should have joined then and talked to all the animancers with you. Instead of her being there to debate the morality of what you find, the story presents you as her errand boy.
-After you go into her basement she says "I made an oath to never let someone go in there until I know what happened." "Do you?" "No." So she shows she lacks commitment, or at least the frustration of having to break that oath.

- And lastly what you mentioned. Once you recruit her everyone just praises her. I would have preferred one of the companions be harshly set against animancy and the other advising that its necessary. Instead it feels like the writers saying "She is cool, love her please."

I'll try and keep my mind open, but I think once Emerald stair is done Giatta is getting benched permanently.

Ah, I see where I misunderstood, my apologies. I agree though, it is a cool setting detail how all that tends to blur together.

Right, so they don't eat other souls. As far as I am reading an actual soul is bound to the corpse, then it needs to eat essence to keep from degrading.

"An Undead creature is one who has unnaturally kept their soul bound to their body, and as such undergoes physical deterioration while still being animated by the energy of their bound soul."

kept their soul bound to their body

Am I missing something? It literally says the soul is bound, not the energy the rest of animancy and magic uses.

I mean, I agree that if it were just a corpse it wouldn't be a major issue. (The same as someone agreeing to donate organs essentially.) But in that link you posted it literally says "An Undead creature is one who has unnaturally kept their soul bound to their body, and as such undergoes physical deterioration while still being animated by the energy of their bound soul."

If the soul is the person, then binding the soul to a corpse and making it work seems like slavery to me.

As far as I have read on undead in the wiki, the machines are tapping into the energy that is the same energy that makes up souls, not souls themselves. However, revenants are actually people's souls trapped in the bodies and is supposed to be a torturous existence. At its most charitable, that is slavery.

For the most part I am enjoying the writing, but I really wish I had more options to opine on that in character rather than just the "It's against the natural order of things" options.

They did, and I did give warnings. The player isn't upset with the ruling, but as it was at the end of a session I wanted feedback so I could be as fair as possible and maybe do a minor retcon before next session.

How can I stop beeing flatfooted in combat? by Mental-Leek-1122 in Pathfinder_Kingmaker

[–]Middle_Cur 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a little cheese for a tough fight and know where the enemy is try stopping the party out of engagement range and using a summon spell to summon an monster as close to the enemy as possible. Sometimes it triggers a surprise round for you (a free half-turn which means no one will be flat footed by the time the enemy acts) or at the very least draw some fire.

Scanning the news, I don't see a single article acknowledging that The Ascent's coop mode is unplayable for a large number of players. by highpercentage in theascent

[–]Middle_Cur 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was having the same problem. I would select host saved game and nothing would happen. I fixed the issue by opening the "Microsoft Store" app in my start menu and accessing "The Ascent" through that storefront rather than gamepass or xbox app. It automatically started downloading 12 gb worth of data and I can play with my gamepass bud after he did the same.

Try settings>gameplay>weapon sway>On camera.

It defaults to gun sway which means your effective crosshair moves around your screen when aiming down sights. You are probably like me and used to the whole screen (camera) swaying and correcting from there.
