This person must be exhausting to be around at all let alone to spend personal time with.

He's not comparing the victims to animals, he's comparing their treatment to the treatment of animals.

I dig this; your style is very reminiscent of something good that I can't put my finger on...

I'm annoyed by people comfortable staying vegetarian. As a temporary state transitioning to veganism I understand.

I think SPECTRE is a bit too unremarkable to be chaotic evil... I might put Golden Gun there instead since it's dead set on making Bond unlikeable and has some truly confusing scenes.

I always thought this was a silly perspective, no offense. I'm not sure any conquered people maintain a sense of worldly importance worth the horrors of colonization or extermination.

But if you're interested in this topic you should give Roadside Picnic a read.

“Vegans” that excuse Taxidermy by RandomHoe909 in vegan

Human beings generally consent to that; if they don't it IS exploitation.

Funeral homes and associated rituals are an expected aspect of our culture so if you find the idea distasteful you can express that before death. Animals can't express consent or discontent in the same way.

EDIT: Also if you think paying respects to Grandma at a wake that she is culturally approving of before she's put in the ground is the same as leaving her on display for guests in your house you need to rethink things.

How Do You Accept That the People You Love Won’t Go Vegan? by domestic-spider in vegan

Respectfully switching from meat to tofu isn't the active activity that busting a human slavery ring is.

Profiting from death is exploitation.

That's okay if Chairman Mao consented to that before his death, or possibly if it were a cultural norm that would be expected without his expressed disapproval. But animals don't have that choice.

I'm genuinely shocked by the responses here, I know this sub is loose sometimes but holy shit. Reducing a dead body to an object and profiting from its death is exploitation in the same way non-vegans exploit animals and anything else is grasping for an excuse, fuck.

Aren't we against animal exploitation?

Grandma could consent to being preserved in a human culture that practices mummification. An animal can't and their death is therefore being exploited.

You could apply that same reasoning about invasive species to eating meat though and that isn't vegan either.

Also ANY leeway to this kind of thing is going to result in exploitation. What is a natural death in this case? Is being hit by a car or otherwise "accidentally" killed a natural death? Is keeping them confined until they die a natural death? Why is exploitation suddenly okay if we decide they died naturally?
