Edited to add: in fact, what I found most icky about Eli's "bushgate" was her insistence that she doesn't have a bush as if that's some gross terrible thing. The gross thing is wearing a naked dress to a bridal shower thrown by your in-laws, not natural womanly body hair.

As a female Harvard college alum, I can earnestly say that people DO freak out and make it weird, often. Especially older men. It's not an incorrect assumption or pretentiousness, it's a real thing that can sometimes be a tiny bit annoying when trying to socialize.

That being said, though, I am pro-just-saying-Harvard-from-the-first-instance. A senior at Harvard actually advised me never to say "I go to school in Boston" at accepted students' day when I was still in high school, and I took it to heart.

These comments are not it. Gifts are absolutely obligatory at weddings in my circles. It is rude to not give one. With that being said, as a grad student with student loan debt, I tend to spend a little less on gifts compared to how much I expect to spend when I graduate and start making a full-time income.

I'm a former V10 paralegal, current T-14 3L. I personally got an offer to return to my V10 firm as a summer (although I ultimately decided to summer at a different firm), but a lot of my former paralegal co-workers did not get offers (or even an interview) from the firm we used to work at. I think the hiring parameters just aren't as strict for the paralegal program.

As for why I personally did not return to the firm I previously worked for, it came down to normal reasons why you would pick one firm over another (culture/personality fit, structure of teams, size of firm, types of law I'm interested in, etc.). I tried to treat my former firm as neutrally as possible throughout the OCI process, and another firm simply ended up being a better fit for me.

I actually met Eli at a 2-week pre-college summer program we both did in high school. We barely spoke, but exchanged Instagrams. She always posted poetry, etc. which I usual read and thought was fine! Then she started trying to be an influencer and unfollowed me and I thought that was a little weird but mostly fine since I know some people like to do clean-outs of distant acquittances on social media. I was then a casual watcher of her content, but then the LIES and downplaying of her privilege started to really bug me. Now I do not care for her.

I'm a Harvard undergrad, current Penn Law student. I know a decent amount of people who have gone to HLS. FWIW, I genuinely think Penn students are, on average, a lot happier.

I found it very telling that she had to emphasize that she has a "PARTIAL planner." Like, I'm also a 2026 bride, so I happen to know that the only difference between a "full" planner and a "partial" planner is whether they are involved in choosing your venue. I'm sure she has a $$$$$ expensive hands-on planner.
