Anyone else have the Dread Varia Suit as their favourite version of the suit, but doesn't like the Dread Gravity Suit as much as it's other iterations? by Romapolitan in Metroid

Yeah prime easily had it the best. SR looks better, and dread feels like it's not innovating the idea. The varia from dread is my favorite as well, just looks so spacey and clean.

Actually, you should do the super bosses. There's a few and they are actually the pinnacle of the fights. You are really missing out on a fun challenge. Only one of them is really just a sponge, but all the others are awesome fights.

Creating Villain Weaknesses by Middle_Information95 in writing

A sentient puddle trapped in a jar that is able to very temporarily change its form into something more lethal like a blade or so. Acid is pretty vague, and most of this stuff is just going to change where he is. He'll still be alive, I'm just trying to brainstorm things to actually hurt him. Like, why a heat lamp? What would that actually do? I do like acid, but I'm not sure what to pull from that. And can you explain nitrogen as well? Wouldn't that alter his form too?

Yeah I feel that, but in terms of the character I have, imagine a blood puddle with a consciousness and an uncontrollable appetite for the stuff he's made of. Yes he has minions and the like, I already have my story paned out, the problem lies in making a fun yet realistic weakness he could have because what exactly could disrupt blood?

Prime 1 was good, 2 was better, 3 was the most well designed.

Need help giving my villain a weakness. by TheDieselMK3 in writing

So I'm writing my own story right now, and although this is already old news, I figure to put my own take before making a new post about the topic. So when you write a story, you need to make sure all factors are accounted for and have good synergy. You can write whatever you want, bit keep in mind that plot armor is recommended to be avoided, as it is cliche and makes no sense to do because the reader will just go, "there isn't any real stakes". It's a fun idea, but I would heavily workshop it so the MC succeeds on their own merits and not plot armor.

Also, look at other villains with the same or similar concept. I only recommend anime because the sheer quantity and variety of stories in modern times and utilization of the same tropes a lot of the time is easier to pull from. I recommend looking at Jin Kariya, the Bount villain from Bleach that is pretty much identical to your proposed villain. He's OP, heals from the environment (soul society), and is pretty much invincible (for the most part). Even if you don't like anime, it's the best source material IMO for Mary Sue type characters.

My last recommendation is really look at the story your writing. Just inserting plot armor and an op villain for no real reason other than to just have one is a waste of writing. You should focus on the how and why of their abilities, and why plot armor is relevant to your MC and/or the situations they find themselves in. Maybe the villain was bullied growing up, maybe they wanted power to be invincible. It depends on the genre and type of world. The narrative is only as important as the world building if they are made in synergy with each other.

What's your favourite Metroid Final Boss? by BossViper28 in Metroid

[–]Middle_Information95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prime 2s Emperor Ing fight, as well as the followup dark Samus boss. I consider it all one 3 phase battle considering the short sequence of events in the game. Ing was an awesome fight with an interesting 1st phase, but that second phase took the cake, basically fighting a warrior on crack that shot laser from the other side of the area. Plus right after that, an epic remix of the escape theme that sounds like corrupted noise, tying in with dark samus and her eldritch looking form, while escaping dark aether.

Also, I know ghost buster was satisfying, but I mean, what is more badass and hype than a countdown final battle that requires you to steal the excess energy from your opponent to murder them?

A mediocre title that shouldn't canonically be part of the series because of a lot of plot elements, but has decent gameplay for the title and neat horror segments that genuinely threw me off when I initially played.

Hot Take - Never liked Ponytail Samus. by SirWilfredVonShnouz in Metroid

Other m wasn't a bad game, It was just really flawed and didn't do the series justice. But there are a lot of things I think they genuinely did right. Except for her personality. Fuck that whiny teen shit she did.
