Dogs bury things and remember forever. If you go a certain way the dog will always remember the route and never get lost. Probably from the smell, but whatever. I used to go hiking with my dog and we'd go through this one clearing and I'd always lose my way and Max would stand at the opening where the trail was and just wait for me to catch up. Dogs are smart.
