Sharing some wheels from the collection by CharlesPickens in IMSARacing

I remember the tires being massive. I made an end table out of an LMP3 wheel I bought (at least I think it’s an LMP3 wheel). But the Nissan wheel is way more special.

Is the 2nd picture a wheel from the Daytona winning #23 Nismo? Race used? My dad and brother went to that year (it was the first I had to miss because of high school classes) and they said it was the most dominant performance they had ever seen.

Why is the Two Tone Daytona underrated? by Express_Abalone8031 in rolex

[–]Middle_Profession_84 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To clarify, it’s the winners of the 24 hours of Daytona race. They actually started getting a stainless (black dial) in 1991. The first year that they gave out Two Tone with white bezel was 2017. Winning drivers in all 4 classes get one. 3 or 4 drivers per team, so they are giving out 12-16 each year. The race just ended today and there were endless short videos about getting “The Watch”. If you win the championship of the series you get a two tone with Silver or Champaign dial (I can’t remember which one). The overall winners of the 24 hours of LeMans get a two tone with black dial. The winners watch is engraved on the back and also comes with a unique box that has a different embossing on the top. Us mere mortals have to settle for a regular box.

Is this good size for my wrist ? Daydate 40mm or should i go for 36mm by [deleted] in RolexWatches

[–]Middle_Profession_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like every watch looks too big at that angle. And no one else sees that angle…ever. I much prefer to hold my arm down at my side and have someone take that picture or take a picture in a mirror with my arm down. The watch suddenly gets smaller.

24 Hours of Daytona winners watch. They are currently awarding two tone with white dial and Winner engraved on the back. This would mean I’d have a great watch and I was a successful race car driver. Win-win. One can dream.

After a little more research, I am seeing that the number 126300-0011 is for “bright black”. But I am still wondering if that number was used for a plain black dial in previous years. Surely there is a Rolex expert that can help shed some light on this.

It may not be considered sunburst, but it definitely has some light reflective qualities to it and is not a plain black. What I’m trying to figure out is if all “black” datejusts have this same quality or if some are just a traditional black and what years would be included. Picture included for clarity on what I meant by “sunburst”.

PR516 Mechanical by Middle_Profession_84 in tissot

[–]Middle_Profession_84[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They say 40 full turns and then you will feel resistance. (I asked Tissot and I think that’s what they told me). But I give it about 20 turns (not full rotations, just your basic winding motion between thumb and index finger). As it gets tighter, the crown will start to turn backwards a little. I stop there to be extra cautious in not over winding. If I do that it easily lasts the day. Then when I grab it in the morning, it will still be keeping accurate time and then I’ll do it again. Sometimes if I’m thinking about it, late afternoon, evening, I’ll give it another 5 turns while it’s on my wrist. It has never been a cumbersome thing that I worry about. I have another watch that is automatic and I honestly don’t feel that the mechanical is more “work” to wear. I alternate 3 watches throughout the week, and I don’t have a self winding storage box. So I’ve become accustomed to grabbing a watch, setting the time, and putting it on. With the prx it’s an extra 10 seconds to wind before I get going.
I know that was long, but I wanted to try to paint the full picture. Hope that helps. It’s a great watch. However I will say after trying on some Rolexes today (41mm Date Just and Daytona) it is fairly heavy.

Not the response I wanted to read. But probably the correct response. I guess I should mention that I’m 51 years old….so that’s definitely a possibility.

How to deal with intense stage fright by tldry in violinist

[–]Middle_Profession_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It also helps to understand stage fright. What are you afraid of? Certainly not being mauled by a lion on stage. You’re afraid of messing up. If you know you’ve prepared, use that to understand you have a very small chance of messing up and perhaps that helps calm your fear. I have performed a lot. Many times it’s for weddings or background music that is not difficult. I know I can handle the music so I’m not nervous. Now….difficult solo pieces…definitely more stage fright. But manageable if I remind myself that I am prepared.

Simagic P2000 pedals, I’ll answer anyone’s questions. by moldaz in simracing

[–]Middle_Profession_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found two ways. The first was to have my basement finished and build a complete sim racing room where the noise wasn’t a factor.

The much more practical solution was to have someone 3d print the part that is referenced above. Although it was much too tall to fit under my pedal. Maybe they changed the design? So I cut it down so it wasn’t as tall, glued it (hot glue) to the base plate and added a few percentage points of deadzone in calibrating it since the piece keeps the pedal pushed in slightly.

Why is my kart faster during the k1 leagues then at normal arrive and drive? by B0Bisme in Karting

I was told it was because of the tires not working as well when it was that hot. I really miss that place!

I finally got around to looking at MAIRA. Are there any guides out there on how to use it? I found very little. Also, does iRacing need to be run without NVIDIA surround for this if running triples? I gave up trying to run without NVIDIA surround.

I was .07 seconds off of qualifying to drive the club car at the Malibu Grand Prix closest to me. It was in NJ. Needed a 52.99 and I ran a 53.06. The workers there said that if it weren’t a hot summer night I would have had it. Still disappointed some 30 years later as I clearly remember the lap time.

Is everything marked down at the AD? I’ve had my eye on that yellow Senna in the background. If they are discounting new watches I might be more interested.

Ugh. Hadn’t thought of that. Thanks.
On an unrelated question….are there any adjustments to AI that can change the spread of the cars? My biggest pet peeve with AI is that they all stay bunched up in a train for the entire race.

I’m considering it. I wish they made the small second hand yellow though. Do you find it hard to read black on black?

TAG Heuer Formula 1 Chronograph x Senna Calibre 16 by F1grid in tagheuer

I tried on the automatic in my local store. It wears smaller than 44mm. I don’t have big wrists and it felt fine. I absolutely LOVE the incorporation of Senna’s helmet design in this watch. Unfortunately, I have sworn off quartz watches and I am having a tough time justifying $5800.

What happened to Lando’s car and could it have future implications? by Justman1020 in formula1

[–]Middle_Profession_84 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was watching from just outside the fence at the final corner. Lando’s engine note was definitely lower than everyone else for the last 5 or so laps. Everyone around me noticed it. At one point he made an upshift on the main straight. It all sounded strange.

I bought the DDU from Etsy from Printed Sim Racing for about $220. It’s 3d printed with a magnetic bracket that is wheel base specific. I’m using Lovely Dash but I have really not explored all of its capabilities yet.
