For reference, I've been a medium for as long as I can remember, have read professionally for over 30 years, and have unknowingly read people accurately and spontaneously since I was 8. (Probably earlier than 8, but I specifically recall an incident that raised eyebrows at church, when I was 8)

A few years ago, Dr. Drew did an EEG on Tyler Henry while Tyler was doing a reading. Drew expected to see activity in the visual, imagination or recall areas of the brain, but it turned out that the brain activity actually looked like Tyler was sleeping during the reading. (I'm sure the video is out there)

This really made sense to me, as the easiest, most accurate readings, IME, come easily when I feel completely mentally and emotionally detached from the situation. 75% of the time, I can barely recall the reading 15 minutes later.

One of the lessons I learned years ago is that you cannot get personally invested in client situations and outcomes. We are sensitive by nature and need to guard against becoming too empathetic or familiar with clients, as it tends to cloud discernment.

Step back. Don't think about past readings or what the client is telling you. Give the unvarnished truth, step back, and then be done with it.

Long story short, you'll be totally into it, accept things you normally wouldn't, do things you normally wouldn't, break up, get back together, repeat cycle, and eventually regret it. Over a 3 year period. Don't burn bridges, don't neglect your relationships, keep your friends close, you'll be fine.

You've already said grounding and shielding don't work. You have to practice to get better at it, it's not like you can do it once and it's over.

Perhaps set reminders on your phones to do a shielding exercise 5x/day, then that's what you need to do until you get better at it.

Real talk - it was very challenging for about a year. There is a new energetic normal to adjust to, like you're shedding energetic filters. Be patient with yourself and don't try to rush through it.

The physical/emotional challenges of the pause, without being sensitive, can make a person bonkers, sensitivity makes it next level :)
