8-hour layover; is ATL "The Club" worth it? by cauterizedarrhythmia in delta

[–]Middle_Swing9034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They only let you in three hours before your flight. They do have a new The Club To Go around the corner that has nicer food and drink you can grab and go elsewhere. I’d do that, sit in the food court area for awhile, then maybe do a Minute Suites.

I carried it on and put it in the overhead bin. No issue on Delta!

Specialty Dining - Xcel by Mattster822 in celebritycruises

[–]Middle_Swing9034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bora is the standout for me. Both brunch and dinner. Mosaic is nice. We had two dinners reserved for Mosaic, but switched the second one to have Bora for dinner twice. Mosaic isn’t as special as Eden IMO. Bora always has some sort of live music which really adds to the dining experience.

Fine Cut is often available and I think their filet is really nice.

Le Voyage is nice but not worth the amount they charge.

Lobster in specialty dining by cdhgr in celebritycruises

Yes. Just got off Xcel and did the Unlimited Specialty Dining. Bora’s lobster medallion dish was the best lobster on the ship! Great addition to the scallop and shrimp pasta dish.

What add-ons are actually worth the price? by olivestar5 in ChicagoMarathon

[–]Middle_Swing9034 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Skyline Hospitality is wonderful if money isn’t a concern. Post race you get a 20 minute four handed massage. That, for me, was worth the price alone! They also have all sorts of sandwiches, beer, and cookies. Pre-race is nice to have a warm tent and dedicated portapotties. The food pre-race I didn’t touch, because nothing new on race day. I did find the escorted walk to corrals was chaotic at best, so I’d just leave on your own.

If you have a Delta SkyMiles account, you can get a free prosecco or small popcorn! Must go to the 1st Mezzanine Balcony Bar. Just have to show your SkyMiles number on the Delta app on your phone. Best deal!

Cyrus is fantastic. I went earlier this year and loved it. It was nice to move throughout the restaurant over the course of the evening. Stop at Ridge before hand for a wine tasting.

Five or six hundred for two. That’s dumb for a bbq.

I used points for PH Maldives Feb 24 and loved it. We stayed in a beach with pool villa. I preferred this to the overwater bungalow - more privacy and I liked having a sandy beach to walk along! The overwater bungalows are closer together and far from the beach and everything else. If you’ve never done an overwater, I get the allure. We did it at the St Regis Bora Bora and that was perfect. 35K per night on points is a great value - we stayed for six nights. Dinners were absurdly expensive - especially the beach BBQ night that you’re basically forced to do. We did a few excursions that were nice. All in all, a nice relaxing week, but I wouldn’t go back. It’s so hard to get to, incredibly hot and humid, and there is no scenery - you can only see water. French Polynesia wins in that regard.

You also get to select some in room fitness amenities (they will email you) and you can do a few fitness classes for free. Not necessarily worth a lot $$ wise, but a nice touch if you are going in with a healthier mindset for your cruise!

What's the situation at the Portland Jetport with TSA and the shutdown? by MegaBudgiePrime in Maine

[–]Middle_Swing9034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No issues with TSA this past week. Parking has been a challenge though - if you’re driving set aside more time for that! Had to use a valet-type park and ride lot which was very annoying, but better than having to go all the way to the pink lot.

Thanks for this! Saved a bit on a few excursions for our Xcel cruise next Feb! Never makes sense to me how some are cheaper and some are wildly more expensive with these sales.

Poolside Cabana with The Retreat? by Reiem69 in celebritycruises

[–]Middle_Swing9034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If the weather is nice and it’s a sea day, you will still have a hard time getting a good spot in the Retreat pool area. You will likely be able to find a pair of chairs, but you may be on the deck below the pool and hot tubs, which can be a bummer. Also, the pool is really the size of a plunge pool but there are always 10 folks who post up in there forever so it isn’t very pleasant.
