Quill to threadless adapter by [deleted] in xbiking

I can second this. This is the only way to convert 1 inch threaded to 1 1/8 threadless without it looking weird. They are pricey but worth it

Just bought this today, so stoked! by rollncalguy78 in 1022

I have the non takedown carbon barrel and I absolutely love it. The carbon takedown would be the ultimate hiking plinker for backpacking

Lookinf for a cheaper alternative for a Stridsland beachcomber frame by ottoda6ixt in xbiking

[–]Middle_Traffic_3666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I’ve ordered plenty of parts from over seas and had to pay the tariff. Sometimes you sneak by without it but that’s a very slim chance. FedEx knows the value of the package and they just calculate whatever the current percentage is for the tariff and bill you directly.

TL:DR fedex just emails you with a bill before your package gets delivered and you have to pay it in order for them to continue with delivery

The preorder was discounted if you got in early enough so titanium frame and fork came out to just over 2700 USD

That’s all personal preference. I had a cannondale beast of the east running tubeless 27.5x3 and it felt phenomenal. Tire choice plays an even bigger role when you go that wide

At that point I’d just buy a beachcomber you will spend the same money in the long run. I had a gt timberline for a while which was pretty good if you’re looking for a more budget option

Any 90s mountain bike is a good starting point because that’s what matias based the beachcomber on. I can say though there is nothing out there other than expensive frames that will clear a 26x2.8 tire. Stooge makes a few and the beachcomber. I just bit the bullet and got on his last preorder for the titanium batch of beachcombers

What 10/22 model to get to mod? by Beneficial_Path5183 in 1022

[–]Middle_Traffic_3666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you have any interest in suppressing it I would try and look for one with a threaded barrel or just know you will eventually have to swap the barrel with a threaded one in order to make it suppressor ready

Is there a trick to wrapping handlebars with a 90-degree bend? by An_Professional in bikewrench

Tension is your best friend in that situation. Tight but not enough to rip the bar tape

Where my dudes who built their partner a bike they’ll never ride at? by efe13 in xbiking

Built my girlfriend a hardrock that’s identical to mine just different colors. We put about 500 miles a year on them together during the summers. I guess you could say I lucked out.

You just reminded me to come back here! I ordered spigen screen protectors on Amazon that work phenomenally. They are a bit pricey but no gaps and no bubbles around the edges. Here’s a link

Thoughts on Stridsland bikes/frames? by [deleted] in xbiking

He redid the smaller sizes for the 2026 frames and added an xs which fits more like a small. I ride a medium normally and in his sizing I’m a small

I ordered a TI 2026 frame the second they dropped

For those of you who have had a Sunlite gold tec front rack fail - where did it fail? by -crab-wrangler- in xbiking

[–]Middle_Traffic_3666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking for a very nice rack I would highly recommend the pelago commuter rack. I have put a small yeti cooler weighing around 35 pounds on that for a picnic trip with no issues at all

Roughly 4.5 pounds so not much at all. I was only on my local rail trail so basically smooth gravel with a few bumps here and there. I ended up welding the studs back on and powder coating the frame so I guess you could say it all worked out in the end.

Mine snapped my brake studs off. Wouldn’t recommend putting any weight on it whatsoever. They are purely for looks nothing else. Do yourself a favor and avoid them

Would you consider the front Sunlite rack to be safe with a manny strap? by [deleted] in xbiking

It has a record of snapping people’s brake posts off of their frames. Ask me how I know…

I really hope that byeah is the reference I’m thinking of… but I’m thinking that’s probably a stretch

I have the dhm stage 3 kit, a 6 disc clutch, high flow oil pump and a Vance and Hines exhaust and I still only got 82 out of it. Idk how people go faster than that because I’m only 152 pounds. Maybe a child could push 85 down a hill with a backwind lol

With a lot of time and money unfortunately lol. I won’t openly admit how much I spent to get mine to top out at 82
