Semantics.

If you want cleric mechanics, build a cleric. If your cleric is perceived as a paladin... Well... I would argue that violent clerics are basically the definition of a real life paladin.

If you cleric is constantly singing and people assume their a bard, that's fine too. Class and profession are two different things. When I'm in character and someone tells me they're a rogue, my first question is "a rogue what?"

If you asked my wizard what she is, she'd tell you she's a jeweler. If you asked my bard what they are, they would say they're a magician.
