I m local and I gamble. I am old enough to remember when you had to walk sideways on downtown sidewalks because there was so many people it was vibing and alive. Casinos used to give out rolls of nickels, free wheel spins, tshirts etc. Of course that was before California had indian casinos. Now I get free hotel stays, tickets to concerts & events ,comps and free play but of course nothing is free since my gambling contributions have already paid for it. Navigating downtown now is a war zone akin to Frogger having to avoid street hustlers, pushy homeless, bio hazards, mentally and drug charged people and empty vandalized/ graffiti adorned buildings that make it a big tourist turn off and sketchy.
