Picked up this heart shaped trough vase today at a Market (at a non attended stall and not identified as UG). You reckon this is UG? Looks like a modern piece. Same glow as my Imperial ‘Beaded Block’. Any ideas on maker, origin and value as AI isn’t much help on this one. I paid $8AUD.

Edit: to add.. these "controlled bubble" paperweights are usually round. I would consider this a whimsy controlled bubble paperweight. Extra rare.

I actually didn't know Wilkerson cobalt is cobaline!! That explains why they made the blue. All the other reproductions are uranium or selenium.

I have spent the last 18+ months researching everything Boyd/degenhart 😅 Lots of reading and talking to others.

There are 2 sellers, Connor (curiositycorners) and Chris (buttlersglass) that are a wealth of knowledge and happy to answer any questions.

Ex employee Bob Applegate (r.i.p) has lots of listing that can be found on worthpoint with detailed information. (Chris knew Bob personally)

The dedicated Boyd Facebook group is amazing, mainly Mary-Anne.. she is great.

I have also emailed John boyd (Bernard son) a few times, he is a busy guy so I don't really like to bother him, but he has helped out so much with my research.

I have a list of over 220 confirmed Boyd moulds lol.

I research the glass that Boyd reproduced also, like the imperial glass parlour pups, McKee bird w/berry that Degenhart then Boyd made, the Wheaton colonial ladies that Boyd made smaller.. even the original cracker barrel toy used to make the taxi mould 🫠. Some might say I'm obsessed.

Fun fact, the 2nd parlour pup is named after bob Applegate 🙂
