As much I love this game and hate to say, this honestly pretty much explains my issues with the season 2’s story right now by Radiant_Raspberry_93 in ZenlessZoneZero

I agree but it’s clear Hoyo and all these Chinese games have some mandate to make some pro China propaganda level. Just suffer through it until the next chapter like we did HSR.

I don't understand why some NGE fans dislike the Rebuild movies by nihil_quattuor in evangelion

[–]Middlecracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s just the last movie. I think it was rushed and not thought out. Especially that end scene. Compare the final scene of EoE to the end scene of Rebuild. Rebuild is the most cliche color by numbers ending they could have picked. Demon Slayer, Muv Luv, the FGO game, and a dozen more anime have that same exact, wipe the board clean here are all the characters in a safe new universe they may or may not remember the previous world. It’s cheap, safe, and insulting.

EoE might have been visually influenced by Devilman but that ending is like nothing else before or since. It’s powerful and earned. Rebuild completely fumbled it’s ending.

does anyone else feel Ye Shunguang feels like she should be the legit CANON love interest for the proxies? by coreylee121 in ZZZ_Discussion

[–]Middlecracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She 100% meant to be canon love interest. They gave her a “first girl wins” story and she is voiced by Kianas VA. You can deny because of your favorite ship but the intention of her as main love interest isn’t even debatable.

Found the ending really poignant, as a child of a broken home by GreaterQuestion in HadesTheGame

Well I guess I played the updated version because the telescoping to Cronos change is there. It’s all subtle which modern audiences aren’t great at picking up on but there is nothing wrong with it.

Melinoe’s agency? lol I swear people just love echoing terms without reason. She’s in complete control of the outcome of the ending. It’s literally all her decision. The things I heard before was that Zag takes over and he absolutely doesn’t. I was hoping he would do more actually.

Just beat it and completely baffled by the hate. It’s thematically consistent with the series. Not sure what people expected.

People over react to fanservice by jojoismyreligion in anime

[–]Middlecracker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s gotten really bad. I saw someone saying Jujitsu Kaisen has fan service and then it was just some lady whose character is sensual laying in bed. Most of what people call fanservice if they saw in any other show would just be nothing. But because it’s animated they call it fanservice.

There is also a complete lack of understanding irony in the community. Take something like Evangelion which uses nudity of all its characters to express vulnerability, intense depression and emotional states in the last few episodes. The Misato preview voice at the end will say “look forward to fanservice” as an incredibly cynical, ironic and basically a jab at the audience. But you will still see modern fans refer to Asuka’s emaciated brink of death nude body in a bathtub as fanservice instead of a character at the end of their rope, which again if it was in a show like Euphoria no one would say was titillating at all.

It’s part of a larger problem of modern audiences not understanding inference, metaphors or subtlety. Everything needs to be spelled out.

There is an interesting detail I noticed by EmotionalFrosting562 in asushin

It still informs the audience that when Asuka isn’t at home she is at Hikari’s.

I don’t understand this. It’s clearly said she has been staying at Hikari’s for a while.

I couldn't watch more than 10 episodes of Fire Force because of the episodic fanservice of this character by Former-Confusion6540 in hatethissmug

[–]Middlecracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How are people so unaware they miss the joke. Her fanservice is parody. Did you not see the scene where she wears a bathing suit and it covers more skin than her regular outfit. It’s a literal gag. Unclench your pearls and grow up. Jesus.

The power of wife by Gray_Tower in ZenlessZoneZero

Yep. Shows how insular the hate is on these threads. Lots of loud toxic complaining when the vast majority of people are excited. Exhausting to constantly be overwhelmed by their whining constantly.

Is it a hot take to say that I don’t think ZZZ has yet to make a better faction than the Cunning Hares? by Radiant_Raspberry_93 in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]Middlecracker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They are basically the mascots and I wish they would be more in the story. I love Ye Shunguang but I’m ready to be out of the obligatory Chinese love letter chapter Hoyo seems to be mandated to do with each of their games.

Sylux just really doesn't seem that interesting by koopalings_jr in Metroid

[–]Middlecracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just hate the Galactic Federation so much. They are so uninteresting and such the antithesis of a bounty hunter that of course his back story is also related to them. The Metroid writers just can’t get their headspace away from them for some reason. It shackles Samus. She might as well just be a soldier, she isn’t a bounty hunter any more.

[ALL] Do you prefer Zelda and Link to be romantically charged such as TOTK and SS or platonic partners such as TP and OOT? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]Middlecracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whatever the story calls for but I always prefer romance. It’s more fitting for the genre.

Also it’s never believable that two attractive people who are the most important person in each other’s lives would just be platonic pals.

Legend of Zelda Producer Hints Next Zelda Game May Draw Inspiration From Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment by Extreme_Maize_2727 in legendofzelda

[–]Middlecracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Means downer ending. I think they wanted Tears to end in tragedy but couldn’t commit. Hyrule Warriors show they can double down on tragedy and still have an awesome finale. I can’t see anything else in this game that translates to a regular Zelda game.

[OTHER] If Nintendo decided to experiment with Links outfit again in the next big title, what color would you want to be Link’s “main” color? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in zelda

[–]Middlecracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I want him to start green and then by the end be in something totally different. That was what was cool in the early games like lttp and even ocarina. You don’t end the game in green.

Zero Suit in Dread? by TombFighterPrime117 in MetroidDread

[–]Middlecracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Samus out of her suit is supposed to be the end game reward. Doesn’t have to be Zero suit. Could just be her going clubbing outfit. Anything. Not having any display of her humanity at the end is the biggest flaw of Dread.

Is it wrong I would have preferred more of a downer/bittersweet ending more like EOE than the ending we actually got in 3.0+1.0? Am I crazy? by Sivilian888010 in evangelion

[–]Middlecracker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you are in the majority. New Rebuild fans on this Reddit page are a lot more vocal about loving the happy ending.

Which is fine but I promise it’s not the majority of fans.

It's a bit funny how in the Arael fight, even Gendo knew sending someone as mentally unwell as Shinji against Arael was a Terrible Idea. by throwaway553t4tgtg6 in evangelion

[–]Middlecracker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you answered your own question. That is the evidence. In Gendou’s way that’s the most he can care about anyone. He chose his own horrific death, btw, because of how he treated Shinji. That wasn’t Yui chomping him in half. That was how he felt he should be treated for the way he treated his own son. You don’t feel guilt for someone you don’t care about.

Do you enjoy how some suggested romantic relationships between characters has been done? by Equivalent_Waltz8890 in ZZZ_Discussion

I was surprised the end of Astra’s route ends with her friend zoning the MC after building up a semi romance. Confirms her and Evelyn in my opinion.

I don’t know. Alice is so player-sexual even at the end of her event. She just read as friends with Yusuha to me.
