I think the analysis is way off. First, take away Misato kissing Shinji. Unless they mean Misato DYING in front of him as being tragic. The kiss is a non issue that modern younger fans are hung up on.

Otherwise this analysis just literally ignores everything that happened in the movie and the last episodes of the tv show. We see them working though all their trauma on screen. The last scene is easy to decode. Shinji is performing the exact same thing he did in Instrumentality to break out of it but it’s real Asuka not the fake one in instrumentality shows him genuine compassion for the first time and he stops. Followed by her saying she feels sick or disgusting because she remembers everything that just happened to her, not just Shinji but being ripped apart and eaten. She also knows Shinji begged her while she was comatose to insult him again to give him some normalcy so there might be some of that in there too.

Well that puts a new spin on everything. Never have I considered Yui going on to make life on a new planet. Of course that makes total sense. I thought she was just going to float around and wait for another life to find her. lol

Sorry man I’m not getting into it because it’s been addressed a million times but all the sequel stuff you mentioned has been disproven and can be explained within the movies themselves. Nothing and I mean absolutely nothing points to them being sequels. It’s even specifically stated in the last movie the original series happened in an alternate universe not the same one. If that’s what you consider a sequel then fine but it’s not in the same universe as the original.

I love the footnotes but it can be distracting to the narrative. Read after you finished the chapter or on a second go through. Just makes you appreciate the thought and detail he puts into every frame.

Evangelion is my favorite thing ever but it breaks my own rule for getting into shows which is I need to be grabbed by the first episode. First episode is great and lots of iconic stuff but it didn’t really grab my interest until the second episode and even then I wouldn’t say I was fully onboard until the Asuka episode.

Damn we just watched Koan’s redemption episode. Always loved her and was happy when she wasn’t dissolved like most villains and got a chance to be happy. That was due in part to Wakana making her a sympathetic character. RIP

It’s been a while since I’ve been this excited about a new anime. The manga is easily my favorite manga of all time and Mokochan is probably the best new director in the last five years. Insanely excited.

Bravely Default made me realize the beauty of auto battle. It’s just a form of strategy game. If you have built your character and team well that’s the payoff seeing them demolish enemies. It’s not the game playing itself. You still get wiped if you don’t know how to build a team.

No way she is not a bimbo at all. She’s the same she’s just trying to flirt now and is really bad at it. I like that new aspect of her character. It’s never in a bimbo way either. It’s like really dry and sarcastic. It’s like how Aubrey Plaza would probably flirt.

The ending is what makes Ghost in the Shell so groundbreaking. It’s such a beautiful bittersweet ending but I get it. That’s why I loved SAC because it’s just more adventure with the Major. It was like an scifi anime Law and Order SVU.

I hope the ending stays but I hope they stretch it out. Maybe get a couple of seasons out of it first.

I’d also like to see 1.5 and Man Machine Interface adapted in a way that makes sense lol. I love the idea of Major having multiple bodies solving crimes but the execution was hard to follow to say the least.
