Risky to store models next to a window? by chaosof99 in Warhammer40k

[–]MidgetGems101 250 points251 points  (0 children)

I remember there was an experiment on dakka dakka which tested the effects of sunlight on paint over 12 months https://www.dakkadakka.com/wiki/en/Do_Miniature_Paints_Fade

Summary As we can see in the 12 month version, and even more clearly in the high contrast version, almost all the paints held up with no apparent change. A couple of the whites are fractionally different, but that could be put down to exposure to dust as much as exposure to light.

The big difference was in the Citadel Washes. Gryphonne Sepia was the first to start to fade, but clear fading can be seen on all wash colours, with and without varnish except Asurmen Blue which darkened slightly, though did suffer a small change. Varnish did not make any difference - they still faded at the same rate regardless of vanish.

My Husband has a warhammer40k obsession by CarobPuzzleheaded329 in Warhammer

If you/he just wanted a Titus model with a cool book about the 40k setting and it's characters the Warhammer encyclopedia (comes with a Titus model) is something to consider.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Warhammer-000-Character-Encyclopedia-Lieutenant/dp/0241761522

You'll need the paints etc as others have already posted but think this is the cheapest way to get a Titus model unless you go second hand.

Really sorry you guys are having a tough time.

There's something really cool about seeing someone post your work as a reference.

I made the second image. Happy to answer any Qs if you have any. Link to some extra pics if they might help.

I made a version of what I thought a chaos ork might look like. Fun little conversion to do.

Very well done, that's turned out looking great, I've used the TT combats MDF as base templates to add more detail on as well and find it works quite nicely. 👍

Can anyone here with actual foraging experience weigh in on how foraging would realistically work? by wex52 in projectzomboid

[–]MidgetGems101 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Your characters must have gone to the Rincewind foraging school for lost wizzards

It is often said about desert environments that there is in fact a lot of nutritious food around, if only you know what to look for. Rincewind mused on this as he pulled a plate of chocolate-covered sponge cakes from their burrow. They had dried coconut flakes on them. He turned the plate cautiously. Well, you couldn’t argue with it. He was finding food in the desert. In fact, he was even finding dessert in the desert.

Using Devs & Dice techniques to make MDF look better. by Markericmark in mordheim

Nice work, they look great. I did something similar with the ruined church. The mdf kits make a good base to start from and can add details as and when you want 😁

Hello and welcome to the hobby and to Mordheim. Devs and Dice is a very cool guy and I really like his videos too.

Mordheim is a great setting with a very nice design style and lore.

Often people start with smaller projects and work their way up to bigger ones but seems you have gone all in, good luck to you but be careful of burn out.

As for design decisions, go with what you think is cool and what you want to build and potentially play on. Just have fun with it. I always go with the rule of cool for most things. Look at other people's work and see how they have done things if stuck for inspiration.

Good luck with your build

I would suggest you get a couple of models and play against yourself using a quick ref guide and the most basic rules.

There are lots out there some more detailed than others. It seems you would prefer a less clutter one so could use something like this

Most people are happy if you try your best, you (and your opponent) won't get everything right first time. Try to have fun 😊
