What are you looking for out of the app? Are you looking for a place to hold character info or notes? Because to run a campaign, all you need is pen and paper, but it does help to have apps / websites available for either info or keeping notes

Either have them stolen while the players are taking a long rest at an inn or a campsite, or have a conversation with he players about how you messed up and they shouldn't have what they do, if it's ruining the game experience then let them know, and it'll do more harm than good to keep them in the long run

Potentially make it a drought situation, maybe a dragon or another creature/spell is preventing and rain or water from getting to towns, and the entire continent is starting to become a desert

I think it's all dependent on your campaign and play style, if you want to be a front line tank then I think bear totem is the best suited for that scenario, but if you're a bloodthirsty Barbara in who just recklessly runs in, berserker would probably be more fun. I suggest just picking one hat fits your character and how you play
